If I'm giving a brutally honest assessment:

1st line - Absolutely elite, if Bertuzzi is as advertised this is atleast the 2nd best line in the entire league, possibly the best if they really click.
2nd line - Lafferty anywhere in the top-9 is gross, and although Knies looks promising he's totally unproven. Not impressed with the line.
3rd line - Nylander at center is unproven, decent wingers I guess depending on how Domi shakes out but once again, the line hinges on a question mark.
4th line - It's a 4th line, good enough.

Top pair - Rielly - Brodie must have gotten broken up 1000 times over the last 2 years because it just doesn't cut it. Rielly got paired with Scenn and Brodie with McCabe and it was immediate improvement.
2nd pairing - Literally hinges on Klingberg achieving atleast some of his past form. The reviews about his defensive game are pretty scary. Not sure if McCabe is the type of guy who can cover up for something that bad defesnively.
3rd pairing - old man Gio needs to not be on this team anymore. We're what, year 6 or 7 in Lilly's development now? and we still got him on the 3rd pair.

Can't honestly say I'm that impressed with the first look at the lineup. Honest to god it looks like another rendition of a run and gun team that needs to rely on its top line to demolish the opposition on a nightly basis.
They were experimenting with the lineup during the playoffs last year and it really showed on the ice. They addressed the problem by adding Bertuzzi and Domi, but there’s still uncertainty.

The hope is that Brodie was injured during the playoffs or they could be in a world of trouble on D.

As for Robertson, the guy only played 17 games last year, 38 the year before, 27 the one before that, a total of 31 NHL games. These concrete narratives that are forming around the kid are premature, apart from being injury prone. He hasn’t failed in any way, apart from injury. I still see a lot of potential and upside there, he just hasn’t played.

Klingberg will start on PP1
Matthews will be penalty killing this year.

To be honest, I have no idea why it’s taken this long for them to go to Matthews as a penalty killing option. He’s I think the best defensive forward on the team, but at worst he’s second to Marner.

‘Will’ sounds awful definitive.

Brodie had a lot going on in his personal life. I’m hoping we see the Brodie we’ve been used to seeing.

Why would he tell the media and fans that he had a nagging injury? What's the benefit?

This might sound crazy but the players don't care about HFboards and Twitter speculation.
Why
1, fans are important
2, fans are important
3, the alternative is the speculation that he has a drug problem or a relationship problem.
4, what is wrong in the off season telling fans the truth. We have an interest and he has 13.5 per yr to earn

You're not that important.
Yes I am, to the NFL, NBA, EPL, MLB.
In fact to those leagues it is not allowed to hide significant injuries due to gambling associations. Now that the NHL has full affiliation and I am forced to watch sports writers and reporters tell me about odds during the game, hiding injuries of significance should be illegal.

You’re really not even a teensy tiny bit.
