Official 2012 Entry Draft Thread

Also had to laugh when I saw Dylan Blujus' name on there. The crowd in Kingston was chanting out 'Blueeeeee Juiceeeee' every time he was on the ice...not a good night for him.

Scoutman also has Ebert 1st overall.

I do agree that Murray is pulling away though it's still close, but he's going in the top 3 no doubt about that. I see Yakupov, Murray, and Ebert all have a great chance to go 1st overall. Grigorenko and Reinhart are the biggest wildcards and could go very high also. Grigorenko has talent to also go 1st overall, but I say the Russian factor plays into it and he falls. Reinhart I don't see going 1st overall, but can make the jump into the 2nd to 5th spot.

I thought he had Galchenyuk first overall. Whatever doesn't really matter.

I don't think Reinhart will go first overall, but I could see him going over Ebert however. He's the closest player to Pronger we've had in a long time. If he has even half the talent his father had he'll be an excellent NHL'er. Hes got familiar roots to me (Most of his families in Kitchener) so I'm hoping he does well.

Grigerenko has the Russian factor, but I think hes good enough he'll get the Malkin treatment and taken very high.

Only defencemen IMO that can go first overall at this point is Murray. I want to see Ebert have more responsiblity on his team (IE next year when hes Windsors #1 instead of their #2 or #3).

The draft wouldn't be the same without a Canadian forward in the top 3. By this butchered attempt at logic, Marcantuoni should have a very impressive season next year :sarcasm:

I believe he did. My mistake, but he did say that Ebert can go 1st overall.

We will have to wait to see. I haven't seen Reinhart that much compared to Murray and Ebert so I will not judge him just yet.

Agreed here, except I see him falling while you see him rising

Windsor has always been a deep team. I know not this year so much, but still deeper than Everett or Edmonton. So you have Murray and Reinhart gaining tons of minutes while Ebert plays more of a rookie roll which Ryan or Griffin would play on the same team.

All in all I even made the Ebert vs Murray thread a few pages back because this will be a epic battle until the end.

Jordan Schmaltz!!! :yo:

He played right over by my house on the Chicago Mission U16 and tore it up!

2 Chicago MM guys getting drafted that year!! Galchenyuk who DESTROYED CYA and Schmaltz who was amazing on CM!!!

It would have been sweet to see Schmaltz and Ebert as a tandem with the Spits. What college is he going to?

Tomáš Mikúš

In my opinion one of the best prospects from Slovakia for 2012 draft. He's only 17 and played in first line for HK36 Skalica in Slovak Extraliga this season. He made almost point per game at the end of the season. He's got great puck control and is good playmaker, not the best skating though.

Not eligible.

So, in my opinion the best prospect from Slovakia for 2012 draft is Patrik Rybár.

Next great goaltender from youth system of Slovan Bratislava. He's only 17 and already play in U20 Extraliga (and is the best goalie in almost every stats) and even played a game for Slovan Bratislava in Slovak Extraliga this season. He has got a good height - 6'2" for goaltender and has got the best possible teacher in his father, former Slovak NT goalie Pavol Rybár.

Other interesting prospects:

AmericanDream is the only non Windsor fan to say it and I can think if a few reasons why. Definitely some bias.

At who said that, I'd say hes top 5 or top 7, would definitely say Murrays ahead of him, and I could see Reinhart going above him. I'd have him at 5 behind Yakupov, Grigorenko, Murray and Galchenyuk.

so now I have a bias for Nick Ebert? and you dont have any bias towards anyone??? do I really need to pull your previous posts up to show just how biased you are as well? I am sure if I did a check, you would have the same IP address as Ryan Murphy.

I follow American players very closely, I follow them from Tier-1 and up as close as I can. Nick Ebert is simply a special player doing wonderful things as a first year rookie in the OHL. He is only going to get better, and when you have his overall two way physical game with what he brings to the table offensively, sorry if I seem biased when I see people putting names ahead of him that shouldnt be.

I said Nick Ebert could go #1 primarily due to a Russian factor, and I stand by it. Nobody knows how any of these kids are going to evolve next year, but you guys are trying to compare Murray (a 2nd year WHL vet) to Ebert (an OHL rookie), and you dont think Ebert isnt going to get even better next year? Maybe there is a bias against Ebert on here because he is American....

Yes there is a bias. Murray is clearly better this year, and you can't assume Ebert will surpass that. Right now Murrays definitely better, and putting Ebert over him because he COULD be better insane.

Yakupov who is the clear #1 has no Russian factor at all. He's over here 2 years before his draft an is committed 100%. No chance anyone should have Ebert over Murray at this point.

God, the epic fail in this...

You seriously need to stop dealing in absolutes, get off your God complex, put down your crystal ball and understand that **** happens in life, the draft, and the NHL. Ryan Murray is not head and shoulders above anyone to say that he cant be passed up for this draft, and I am not saying Ebert will go higher because he "could" be better, I am saying Ebert could go above Murray because he currently is better....but that can change and I have no idea how any kid progresses or regresses in a year.

A lot of your posts have you posting in absolutes as if you are an expert. You are not and that is the only fact from this talk. I dont know who will go ahead of who in a year, nor will I lose sleep over it, but I certainly am not going out there acting like things wont happen as if I know this as a fact.

We all have our opinions and thats cool, and I think Ebert will go very high come next June, but I will let the actual draft do the talking as to where he goes, not going to argue over this anymore......way too much time until next years draft for so much to change.

Absolute this, absolute that, are you going to actually post a reply or explain how I word my posts to me ad why you don't like them some more?

Murray is ahead of Ebert, and you can't put him ahead because you think he will be better, because that's what your saying if you put Ebert ahead. You ranking them as of now, now how you think they will be. If your ranking them as of today, Murray is ahead of Ebert with no doubt in my mind. And I can say with confidence most people agree with me.

Can that change? Sure it can. But it is American or Windsor biased to have him above Murray at this time.

To draw the line with stats, they are close, but in terms of on ice responsibility and smarts, I personally would say Murray is currently ahead of Ebert, but Ebert has the potential to surpass Murray.

Erretung....I would probably be good if you didn't call out people for their biases, its like the pot and the kettle.

My question for you - would you take Ryan Murphy over these two guys?:naughty:

Over Murray no over Ebert maybe. I want to see if Ebert can replicate and improve on success this year when he's Windsors top defencemen intead of playing second pairing and PP with Ellis.

I freely admit I'm Kitchenr biased, but I usually beleieve what I'm saying and it's never far out non mainstream stuff. There's always othera who agree.

The best Slovakian 2012 prospect is Daniel Rzavsky in my opinion.
Rybar is awful, Romancik showed me some promise. Weak year for Slovaks in generally.

haven't read the whole thread but what do people think of Damon Severson and Simon Desmarais?

I'm a Halifax Mooseheads season ticket holder ( I know- I feel bad for me too :D). I was very impressed by Simon at the beginning of the year but he has been a healthy scratch most of the 2nd half- it has been hinted at that he just needs to get in better shape with a training program and better diet to take the next step in his draft year.

How about Frk?

How about Frk?

Frk definitely has talent but he has a lot to work on; his skating, work ethic and defensive play need work.

He should benefit next year with an actual training camp as he wasn't allowed to practice with the Mooseheads until early September this year and hopefully he'll be able to play with a playmaking center who can generate some chemistry with him next year.
