Untouchables: Kaprizov, Boldy, Wallstedt

Minnesota needs more offensive style forwards. Right now they have three in Kap, Zucc and Boldy. They’ve gone back to back games without scoring a goal.

Assets:
-picks
-Dumba
-Middleton
-Greenway
-any prospects (Lambos, O’Rourke, Peart, Ohgren, Khusnutdinov, etc)

Fire away!

Just stay the course but Dumba is the likely trade candidate with his contract being up and the buyout hits as they are.

He said offensive forward. Kerfoot putting up ok stats on the Leafs does not mean he is an offensive forward for the Wild.

I doubt a team has the type of offensive forward the poster is after and is also willing to pay for it.
I’m curious about guys like Boeser, Horvat (extended), and Garland for sure. Definitely not Kerfoot.
Greenway, Ohgren and the MIN 2023 1st

For

Kreider
Kreider isn’t the right age range to be trading those pieces for.

Rangers not trading Kreider. I don't see it.

Boeser might be a good option. Canucks might do a massive hair cut this season due to their struggles to move up into a legit playoff team.

Greenway and Gaudreau on the 3rd line would be ideal (Eriksson on the top line). Horvat with Boldy on the 2nd line might make the team better. Rossi is too young at the moment to carry a playoff team burden at center. Rossi and Boldy on the wings with Horvat? I think that works and Rossi can move to center at a later date once he is more matured.

Personally, Id avoid the rental. Try to get Horvat on a sign/trade. Even with Horvat, I doubt it means a cup and you loose futures. So if you pay futures, get him with term.

Kaprizov / Eriksson / Zucc
Rossi / Horvat / Boldy

Bottom 6 can use some upgrades and that's not that difficult at the deadline.

I feel like the only thing that makes a Boeser deal challenging, is those insane "dead cap" penalties making things tight for Minnesota. Other than that, it makes a lot of sense in pretty much every way.

If you can work the cap out, it's Vancouver trading from a position of "surplus" with scoring wingers, to a position of need for "offensive players" in Minnesota.

The obvious candidate is Dumba, but that really only solves the cap for this year. He's also really not at all what the Canucks need on defence. So i don't think it really works for anyone. But it does seem like there should be a way to make a deal work to send Boeser back to Minnesota.

What does Vancouver need? I’d love to run this lineup:
Kaprizov-Hartman-Zucc
Boldy-Gaudreau (Rossi)-Boeser
Greenway-Eriksson Ek-Foligno

Is it defense? Minnesota has a lot of defensive prospects, but basically none are RHD outside of Addison and I don’t see him being offered when he has made the power play so much better than it was in years past.

That ship sailed when Guerin could have kept Fiala and decided we were fine without him.

We have Hoffman who scored 2 goals last night. Just give the Habs a 4/5 th round pick and Hoffman is yours.:)

Ah yes, let’s compound the dumb mistake of not keeping Fiala even further by not acquiring more scoring forwards.

Our scoring forwards are in the prospect pool, for better or worse. Compounding the dumb mistake of not keeping Fiala would be to then turn around and trade more assets for a lesser player (Boeser, for example) trying to replace him.

Guerin made the decision when he traded Fiala for Faber and Ohgren that the NHL roster doesn't need a player like Fiala as much as the pool needs players like Faber and Ohgren. The future is more important than the present, and that's what we're seeing on the ice right now.

If we are on the losing streak for another 3-4 games, we will have some big names available.

Tarasenko comes to mind immediately for the Wild. Others like Saad, Barbashev, etc, can also be had for reasonable prices. Even Kyrou might be available if there is a big haul coming back in terms of futures. ROR is most likely going to Colorado or Carolina that have significant upgrades at C to do.

Oh I know what you prefer, but will you pay the price tag? Garland might be had reasonably, but Horvat will cost something that will hurt, and Boeser would mean gutting salary elsewhere.

Engvall had 15G, 35P in a 3rd line role last year and has been bad this year.
Wondering if Minnesota would take flyer on him. Greenway would be great for the Leafs but he's worth more than Engvall imo
