Actually I'm somewhat fortunate to be the age that I am as I was laid off from work 4 months shy of my 64th b-day as a result of the downturn in the Oil & Gas industry a couple of years ago (I worked in the industry for 30+ years). With my severance package and EI I was able to make it comfortably to my 65th B-day where upon I started collecting my CPP and OAS.
If I was a few years younger I likely would be working for Walmart as a greeter. Nobody wants to hire some old guy in his 60's unless its Walmart or McDonalds or the like.

So if you've potentially caught it through "community transmission", they won't test you from the sounds of it; only if your symptoms are severe, you've been traveling recently, or someone close to you has a confirmed case.

So likely the number of actual confirmed COVID-19 cases is exponentially higher. On the plus side, I guess it lowers the death rate for the virus.

It's a risk assessment basis I believe. They don't have the capacity to test everyone even though they are testing more per day than most other areas. Furthermore, there is also a garden variety nasty cold/flu season going on right now which isn't Covid 19.

Covid 19's main symptoms is fever, fatigue and dry cough. Other flu have the same symptoms, but in general, has more symptoms I believe.

This pandemic thing is tiresome... getting time away from social media and alarmists (social media or in person) really helps to reduce stress. My wife had potentially been exposed to a carrier, and that person (after like 5 days) finally received their results and tested negative for Covid 19. It is just likely strep throat for that person. But waiting all those days was not a relaxing experience.

Slow down the smell the roses my friends. Stay healthy. Spend time to take care of yourselves and others.

The number is without a doubt higher. They just don’t have the capacity to do wholesale tests and their trying to keep the hospitals from being flooded from people with colds. So while it seems ass backwards, it’s probably the best they can do in the situation we’re in, self isolate if your sick until symptoms get serious.

I agree man. I had to take a few days off from Twitter because it was just bleh, depressing I guess, same with the Reddit News feed, I’m still very aware of the situation and taking it serious but I’ve been much happier the past couple days just playing with toys with my 3 yr old.

This thing is here, be aware, be safe, but don’t forget to enjoy life.

Playing with my little guy for an extended period of time was an interesting experience. Toys are just so damn complicated these days. I find I have more fun just messing around throwing balls, piggy back rides and simpler imagination stuff like play camping, sword fights etc. for the longer plays.

He's not yet 2 years old but damn, he's changed so much and learned so much so fast. Where did the damn time go?

I hear yah there lol, seems like mere months ago we were bringing her home, now she’s running around, busting my chops on the daily and trying to tell fart jokes :laugh:

As many of you know I literally blew up my ankle 3.5 years ago. WCB against my specialists advice is ending my benefits effective Apr. 11.

My tibia still has a long-bone fracture complicated by dead bone. I can't stand for more than 5 minutes without being in pain in the 7-8 level and 20 minutes longer and I am done for the day. I can't grocery shop for myself but yet the have determined I am able to go back to work. I am supposed to be entitled to another 6 weeks of physio to prepare for work and they have totally ignored all that.

To add to that the wife works in retail and has had her hours cut in half with notice that her store will close when non-essential services aren't allowed to operate down East.

And of course how many employers are hiring right now worldwide? Flippin' ridiculous. Any ideas?
 
Jason Kenney declared a public state of health emergency today, and the UCP is still going through with cutting 750 full-time nursing positions starting April 1.

We are screwed.

These are my go too's. Not a fan of Doritos personally. (Might get publicly outed because of that)

Apparently Uber Eats drivers are making "mad paper" right now. Brother in law made over $400 last weekend. Something to look into?
