I’m leaning Darnold. Draft the next franchise guy next year, if possible.

I dunno that I’d wanna go 40 mil a year though…I could easily see Rodgers signing here for a year. And I think I’d rather have him than Wilson.

$40 million is a lot but the cap is going to rise to a projected ~$310 million next year, which is a jump of $30 million. You're basically paying for Darnold's contract just with the cap increase from 2025 to 2026.

RIP. Rough couple of years for Pittsburgh broadcasting.

I think it stings more because it just seems like the next wave of broadcasters have very limited personality and talent, whereas Tunch, Wolf, Stan, and Lange were such impressive on air talents as well as being so active and well known in the local community.

Please no Rodgers, literally anyone but Aaron Rodgers.

Dude is even more washed up than Russ is. If you want to go with an ancient QB, just stick with Wilson. The sole reason I’d even consider Rodgers is if he’s signing for vet minimum, just like Wilson last year.
I'll take Rodgers over Russ all day.

Seems like it's either Darnold or Rodgers at this point. Fields is looking like he's going to the Jets and it seems like Wilson isn't coming back.

Praying that it ends up Darnold, but expecting it to be Rodgers.

Rodgers replacing Wilson would be a bit of a monkey paw curls moment for me, but I think they’re both equally disruptive from an organization standpoint. Rodgers just very publicly does his thing.

Like we didn't advocate for "trade DJ" as the only move last year? But it happened.

I also just think it's crazy top be talking about tossing aside a gifted (if immature) receiver on a rookie contract.
Right, but you were mocking a point that nobody was making, or at least willingly excluding a pretty important part of the point.

I'm not necessarily advocating to trade him, but it's certainly not crazy. If he can't be relied on enough to keep him around beyond this year, trading him now so that you can at least get something for him is not unreasonable.

I still think Fields ends up staying here after listening to the Jets offer. That’s what I’d put my chips on.

I could be convinced that Rodgers bounces back this year (to an extent) with another year of rehab on that Achilles.

Is there something out there that makes it seem like Fields to the Jets is a done deal? Or is this just the "if it's going to happen, it would have happened by now" logic?

There has been a ton of smoke that the Jets really like him and I think most people are expecting that the Jets will out-spend the Steelers for Fields. That's at least what my expectation is.

It's not "if it's going to happen, it would have happened by now", I just think the Steelers will get outbid by the Jets for him.

I mean, nobody was out there outlining subsequent moves to be made for the WR room either. Just a lot of "can Pickens be moved/what can we get for Pickens now" discussion.

It just seemed awful short-sighted or at the very least getting ahead of ourselves, and based on past experience that seemed ill-advised.

I'll add that I think Pickens is really good and think he makes the team better. Although I see some of the issues that trouble some folks, because I'm not in the market, with local sports media harping on "George is another diva/headcase" I'm immune a little to the drawbacks/haven't been beaten down with the negative messaging.

It’s just more of a feeling. I don’t necessarily buy the whole “He needs to wait to see what they offer.” He knows what they’re going to offer.

He could want to talk to the coach though I suppose.
