Seeing GNR is a couple weeks.
Last night was Randy Bachman in a small venue. What a great show, so many stories. Crazy that he’ll be 80 next month.
It's crazy to say it, but it does seem like Randy Bachman is severely underrated. Not my era, but he's a bloody genius.

Is Taste of the Danofrth worth it? It is just so so busy in its modern existence. I can remember it from the 90's and it was a good time, but it is bonkers any time I went in the last ten years. Thinking of hitting it with family early afternoon tomorrow.
Way too busy. Like everything in this city. But yes, well worth it. I like to say I'm a foodie, but I'm really just a fat pig in a fat pig's paradise.

Exhibition was a great time tonight.

Softshell crab burger, a couple of tacos, $2 spaghetti, Jamaican snacks, expensive pints, Tiny Tom donuts...

And then Chris Stapleton going off...

Chefs kiss.

What are the prices like for tickets these day? My parents used to me and my sister there once a year for big day, and they wouldn’t hd a bunch of disposable income back then, but I always felt like the CNE was supposed to be this relatively affordable grand Toronto event for the masses.

Then I went there maybe a decade ago plus, pretty sure it was daughter only before the boy, and was appalled at it. Like, easy $500 day, extrapolating A decade later with a couple all day passes, I’m guessing I drop close to grand on a day for the family?

It’s a great experience and just this side of maple syrup for T.O. Specific Canadiana, but do you do it these days?

The songs on Justice are amazing. The recording quality is atrocious, and I say this as a fan of other types of music that often have bad recording quality for different reasons.

The snare sounds horrible and the bass has been both scooped and buried. There are unofficial mixes of this record on YouTube that sound infinitely better than the actual record.

Lars is a douchenozzle. The end.
….. aaaaaaaaaaand I’m dead. Lmao. :biglaugh:

Went to a Shaw store yesterday and the staff there are resigned to be being second left thumb.

Told me to call in because they don't have any deals to make. They don't get to make the same offers as the people online.

I have a soft spot for employees in this situation.

Anyway, a week ago or so I had called in and got a CSR on Vancouver Island, IIRC Nanaimo.
Yesterday I got a CSR in Edmonton.
Same deal about about $50 difference in price.

No more Center Ice, but a Sports Superpack that includes Center Ice, NFL, NBA, US College Football and Basketball. https://www.shaw.ca/tv/channels/super-sports-pak $36 a month. I think you could probably just get it for hockey season ... Center Ice used to be $150? So this Super Pack is more, but perhaps gets you other sports if you're into them.

Have been using streams last few years, but they aren't reliable.

They did say the merger would make things cheaper. Not sure that is true, but my suggestion is try Chat at different times and if you don't like the offers try at another time and hope you get a different rep.

Maybe because my latest analyst was from Alberta and he knows I'm from Alberta he went all in for me?

Back on Lake Huron out by Grand Bend at the moment, Pinery Park. I’m more of a canoe the backcountry in Algonquin kinda guy, here with family friends for the kids to have a blast with theirs, but if you’re a beach person and haven’t made the trip out here to Huron, do it, beaches are world class for 3 hours from the Smoke.

I bought tickets to go see the Leafs in Chicago. Any recommendations as to food/ sights?
Never been to Chicago, but I have two places I want to visit I'll link (buddy has been and said it's good stuff)

Menu – Kuma's Corner (linked ya to the menu to check out the burger names)

https://www.delilahschicago.com/ (Bar with more than 300 varieties of whiskey plus movie nights & DJs spinning punk/rock/ska music.)

Don't check today's JV Squier prices, you'll hate your friend even more

Damn, just checked; those prices! They're looking like what 80's synthesizers go for.

Ah well, I scalloped the neck so it wouldn't fetch too, too much these days I imagine. Maybe if Yngvie had scalloped it personally, it might be worth something, I dunno.

I was by there in July and had 30 minutes to kill so I was hoping to just drive in and take a look. Unfortunately it was going to cost $25 or something just to enter regardless of how long the stay was. I cheaped out and went to Grand bend for the 30 minutes instead.
Drove through Forest on the way out and found out they have a cinema there that is over 100 years old.

I assume Grand Bend beaches are about the same, only 10m away. Huron is just a massive body of water with prevailing winds over a millennium or two driving it in this way, the sand and the dunes it’s created are tropical-like. Just physics, it’s a massive lake that is north to south in dimension, so the east shore is beach. We only get about two months where it’s not silly cold unfortunately, but hit that window and the beaches are fantastic.

Sea was angry today my friends, like an old man trying to send back soup at a deli. huge waves. I mean, not ocean waves, but standing waist high cresting over head, it was good.

Taylor Swift has gone beyond being a musician. I'm not saying she isn't talented, because she very much is, but at this point she is a conglomerate. She is this generation's version of Michael Jackson. She is an event rather than a musician.

These things presumably always go through cycles, but there hasn't been a good rock cycle since the early 90's. That is a very long time ago at this point.
We were on vacation when Taylor Swift announced her six shows here in Toronto. My recently-turned teenage daughter was super stoked she'd get a chance to see her. She was pissed at me for two days because I couldn't get tickets despite entering the contest. Once she found out 31 million people subscribed, and there would be only 300,000 total tickets available, her disappointment subsided when I told her only 1% of people would be satisfied.

But yes, she has become an event more than anything. We have a family friend who is a huge "Swiftie" who is flying to the U.K. next year to watch her who calls her shows a "cinematic experience". I used to find her annoying, but you can't dispute what she's become. She's soon going to be a billionaire, and what she brings to the cities in terms of money is extremely impressive (Colorado had US$140 million flow into the city for her two-day concert stop).

Speaking of musical talents who are insanely talented, I will say that despite the fact that I absolutely loathe her, Pink is incredible.

Always liked Billions.
Succession ain't bad.
Foundation for Scifi
Yellowstone 1923
I've seen the Yellowstones. We started Succession but the wife wasn't into it, maybe give that another go.

Where would I find Foundation? Never really been much into Sci-Fi but might give it a try.

Succession is boring af in the beginning but it picks up.
Foundation is on Apple TV I believe.
Based on Isaac Asimov's who is really the father of the scifi genre.
I watch all my tv shows on the cinema app loaded on an amazon stick with an upgraded subscription of real debrid to ensure I get HD and zero lag. Cost very little and I get every show and movie in the universe including all the streaming platforms. I take that stick when I travel too.

I picked up a couple on Prime Day. Gave one to my daughter, she loves it, haven't used the other yet.
Are you saying you pay for a cinema app and then don't pay for all the other streaming services?

@Bomber0104

Damn, you got me curious with guitar prices so I just looked at the price of the Fender Performer I bought in '87 (~$400). Sold in it in '90 because I thought it was useless. Those things are worth $4000 now!
