Oh, I love Deep Purple! Back in 9th grade (geez) I had Machine Head on an 8 track and I played that thing to shreds.

I got to thinking about a band I used to listen to in college, Mother's Finest. I couldn't remember the name at first and had to go find it in my albums. I remembered they were a mix of black and white singers, but that was all--strangely all that pulls up is stuff about Three Dog Night and Michael Jackson. So anyway after I found the album I looked them up and they're still playing gigs! I was glad to find out I still like the music.

Also Joan Armatrading. I really like her music, but you never hear anything from her these days, even on classic stations.
I like certain things from Deep Purple, not an all encompasing fan by any stretch.

My go to band in college actually had a couple of hits but most people don't seem to know them, Brother Cane. Their first album which has " Got no Shame " on it is Southern Rock awesomeness. The second they tried to kind of go with the times of the Grunge/Alt Rock and wasn't as good imo but did have the song " And Fools Shine on ".

My odd bands are generally pretty well known in their respective genre's but still good listens. Tad, The Melvins, and Screaming Trees.

Sadly I can't help much on the country front, I jumped ship from that sometime in the early mid 90's outside of a major artist or two I like such as Brad Paisley and Toby Keith.

I was never a BIG country fan but I liked certain songs and certain people. Loretta Lynn, discovered really through my love for Jack White, but of course I knew who she was. I couldn't have told you more than 3 of her songs, though. I went through phases, I'd really like an album or a time period for an artist. Jethro Tull, for instance. I listened to all the albums of the late 70's but at some point just stopped. Mr Adz got me a CD of an album that was released on my birthday this year and I enjoyed it but don't really listen to it like I listened to Songs From the Wood or Minstrel in the Gallery, you know? Now I just listen to the random song that pops up when I'm listening to a play list. Those autogenerated playlists are remarkably accurate to my tastes, though.

I tend to like a little bit of everything so anything random prior to say 2010 generally works pretty okish for me.

I have some go to band and albums, Dark side of the Moon for instance or Chicago Transit Authority, but I can get on board with anything from doo wop to 70's soft rock to Grunge, a bit of Neu Metal, heck even a big fan of the rap from the early 90's.

These days though I listen to a ton of comedy, and I'm always a fan of throwing a documentary on and listening.

I don’t like much main stream country past the 90’s. Artists like Cody Jinks, Sturgill Simpson Jamey Johnson, Whitey Morgan and the 78’s, Turnpike Troubadours are my “country” selections.

I really like Breaking Benjamin, Shinedown, Godsmack, Avenged Sevenfold, Mudvayne, Crossfade, and the likes when the mood hits me.

Honeymoon Suite was a lesser known band in the 80’s, I had to buy their cassettes multiple times because I wore them out.

Yeah listened to most of those myself at one time or another, well except the 80's band. I still find a few in the generation of the second from time to time I didn't know of much.

10 Years, actually a band out of Knoxville was one ( song Wasteland is awesome ), Flyleaf is another. I like alot of Chevelle's stuff, Three Days Grace, Red has a song or two and then I get into stuff like System of a Down from time to time. I always forget bands like Slipnot and Disturbed when I'm listing things too for some reason.

Truly anything metal/hard rock from the 70's on I can pretty much listen to tbh.

I've come to the conclusion that everybody's tastes in music are "eclectic" and that genres are an invention by the records industry to attempt to convince people to buy more.

My recent listening includes Sturgill Simpson (literally as I type this Make Art Not Friends is playing ;) ), Wintergatan, Stereophonics, Anamanaguchi, a local Columbus-area band called The Lost Revival, bits from the Quake II soundtrack (I've been replaying it because of the re-release and some of 'em stick in my head), Foo Fighters, and occasional returns to perpetual favorites Smashing Pumpkins and Blue Man Group. And at some point I'll finally get around to Gloryhammer's latest but I've been procrastinating.
EDIT: Hmf. Forgot OK Go and Depeche Mode. Although the latter was mostly because of a silly in-joke during a TTRPG.
I don't know if they did it on purpose, because in a way it just fits so nicely with the whole Rhapsody/Of Fire parody they have been doing, but Gloryhammer has a new Angus McFife, and the former started his own band Angus McSix, but they both are doing the same stories/parody still. I guess I can't say either is any worse/different than the previous stuff... but in a way, the joke kind of wears off over time. Like with Alestorm too.

I don't have a favorite artist. I will listen to a song and either like it or no. I will go rock, classical, Portuguese blues, Quebec punk. Whatever sounds good.

I drove my older daughter home from college. She thought that she would annoy me with a Depeche Mode song. She was surprised when I started singing along with it because I had a CD of theirs. Younger daughter saw OK Go at her college. I liked the video with them skating on the treadmills.

My own musical taste varies from Strauss to Johnny Cash to Return to Forever. I have seen John Fogarty and Rod Stewart 3 or 4 times each. Marshall Tucker has played in Milwaukee as has Patty Labelle, Al Yankovic, Todd Rundgren, the Commodores and Frankie Valli; they all put on great shows!

The price of gas in Seattle and Victoria, BC was about $5.49. Ouch!

I didn't notice any gas stations in Juneau or Skagway. We made it to about 60 North and 135 West on our anniversary trip. The weather in Alaska was pretty good.

I saw the Kraken's arena and the Royals' arena from the outside, respectively.

Happy 40th!

We went to Chuy's for ours. This is about as fancy and as celebratory as we get, and we like it so that was our big to do.

Gas just went down in Hermitage, was $3.33 last time I was out. I've seen it for $3.69 in other areas, though.

Same to you and Mr Adz!

I remember dining at the Chuy's at Opryland Mills 7 years ago. I remember Chuy on that talk show 10 or 15 years ago, Chelsea Lately.

I fell a Preds stats rabbit hole and I said to myself: Why not create the ultimate draft on one player per round for the Preds.

9. Skratins

8. Rinne

I was feeling good.

7. Hornqvist over Erat

6. Santorelli. (I couldn't find anyone better)

5. Hendricks

Then I got to round 4....round 4...oh dear God.

Tootoo, Ekholm, C. Smith, Saros, Arvidsson.

3. Franson (See round 6)

Round 2; Weber vs. Josi. At that point I quit.

I'd take Ekholm for the 4th.

No disrespect to Juice, but if you're getting Pekka in the 8th, you don't need to take Saros in the 4th.

I like Josi, but Weber was more complete before the injuries

I actually just read about them recently at the Nashville Zoo. Apparently they are only in Mill Creek, which if you are familiar with, is basically the dumping ground for much of South Nashville. I grew up fishing this creek and it's really a shame what the population boom has done to it. Anyways, the Zoo is heading up a project to try and improve their habitat and consequent native numbers. I can't imagine a crayfish getting much attention, so I assume like many things, they will be gone by the time my kids have kids.

There is a story in Chemical & Engineering News, the August 21st edition, on page 32.

The Nashville Zoo is working with the US Fish & Wildlife on the Nashville crayfish.

The same page has a story about the pale lilliput mussel. A scientist with the Tennessee Wildlife Resource Agency is helping to breed the mussels and put them into rivers where they used to live.

Lots of Biology going on in the Volunteer state!

Unfortunately there aren't a ton of options that you will find cheaper than Xfinity. I actually just paid for the BallyApp last year. It was fine on my smart TV but the quality was consistently poor on the phone app.

Espn+ and a VPN works in the regular season. Problem comes when the games are on TNT or the regular ESPN channel. Sucked during the playoffs.

NHL is gonna need to get on top of a universal streaming option pretty quick.

I use XFinity but I pay for their internet service only. I switched from AT&T because they forced me to use their modem and router. XFinity allows me to use my own modem and router so they’re who I chose. Along with the XFinity internet package, I pay $20 a month for the minimum (basic) XFinity streaming app. It has Bally and all the channels my wife wants.

Hey all, just wanted to follow up on this. Talked to Xfinity and for perhaps the first time in history I think the best deal they offer is an internet only package. Go figure.

So just want to be sure I understand what happens next here. My plan is to get some other service like Youtube TV or something but I know that will not satisfy the Preds stuff other than maybe nationally televised games. So just want to confirm something about the following so I can figure out which is the best route.

@ShagDaddy: Was this $20 add on something you did when signing up for internet or an add on you did later?

@Flgatorguy87: Did you have any blackout issues with the Bally's app, either for home or away games? We'll go to most home games but do sell some games, especially midweek, so would use this app for home games at time. I know if there is a nationally televised situation that is probably blacked out on the app.

Thanks all. It's kind of crazy how far we've come from the olden days of television but still dealing with stuff like this that actually makes it more complicated.

I lost ESPN games on Bally last year. I also have ESPN so I was able to watch but you'd need both I believe to get every single game.

OK good deal this is probably the solution then. Whatever streaming service I pick will have ESPN (requirement for me) so I guess as long as I have ESPN and Bally's app it sounds like I'm covered. Unless something ends up on TNT but I'll probably have that anyway.

Not sure about that, some games are exclusively on ESPN+ and Hulu and from what I've read having ESPN doesn't mean you have ESPN+

It's all way too confusing. Just let me buy something that lets me have all the hockey on all the networks that can run through Roku (or any other platform) and my phone, both live and on tape delay in case I want to watch it again, and with no out of or in market stipulations. I don't mind paying for it, show me the ads! but I don't want 5 services just to see my team play and I want my team, others, playoffs, and preseason if they're available.
