Those ended up being awful, but I think its a little unfair to call that type of move a middle finger to fans. They were misguided honest attempts to improve
It was like pooping on a plate and calling it dinner.
Honey, I know we have no goalie and a coach that loves ritual sacrifice but I got you Taylor Hall!

Terry's stanley cup comment was ridiculous, but most people considered adding Hall a very good move.

Acting like the Hall add was not substantial is revisionist history.

It was a very good move... if Hall had played like he cared. He quickly appeared to check out, despite the past link to Krueger. In the end, 2 freaking goals and spending most nights skating up and down along the left-wing boards, nearly always on the offensive half of the ice / center red line, frequently falling down with or without the puck, and rarely driving to the slot / high-danger scoring areas... from a former Hart winner?

It was a substantial add that was quickly inconsequential.

He talks a lot about JJ and Quinn and also about face-offs which has been a popular subject here recently.

Peca talked about R2 competing to be 4th line center for Buffalo. He says he needs to do two things (because his speed and work will be there):
1. Be an elite penalty killer
2. Be dominant on faceoffs

Yea, he really touched on several players and subjects I think a lot of people here having been discussing the past couple of weeks. One of the best interviews I think they've done on the Instigators. I actually found myself listening to the entire thing which I don't normally do.

If you trust NJ fans, he is neither a two-way player nor a center.

Something most people should start to do is listen to the fans of the teams these guys play for. Think how other team fans talked about Delmore. Or Ehrhoff. Or Leino. Or Kane. Or Bogosian. Time after time, the truth is there and it gets lost in "oh, you guys are just bitter" commentary.

The first 3 picks are good, if they are actually available. There's probably a player/even a D better than Salomon at 28. Snuggerud won't be there at that point. None of the rest are really worth commenting on.

It’s Gibson Homer, but yes I agree with acquiring his rights

There seems to be a Nichushkin comparison brewing online, I think this line of thought will grow exponentially this offseason

I really doubt Nichushkin would sign here but trading Olofsson and adding him would give us another strong two way player that we desperately need. EH has his projection at $6.4 x 7 years. That is more then what they are projecting for Olofsson and the term is longer but he would be such a good add.

I'd better target DeBrincat then, he's an RFA and he's 24 years old, would be a good fit for our core. Although I don't want to trade Quinn anyway.
Agree.....Cat over Pasta for sure. I think 1 yr in BUF and he would want to sign here long term. If a prospect is to be given its Quinn. Not gonna be JPP or Krebs. I would make any offer necessary to get him here. #9, #28, and Quinn. I'd even throw in 2023 Vegas 2nd rounder if necessary.

Add PK for ~$3m per for 2/3 yrs
VO gets bridge deal @ $4.5 for 3 yrs
Re-sign Hino to 2/3 yrs @ $1.5m and Bryson for 3 yrs @ $2m

Then pick ANY goalie (all better than current). I would take DeSmith for 2/3yrs @ $2.75-$3m, or Husso for 2 yrs @ $3m. (I'd even trade some garbage for Binningtons 5 yrs @ $6m if they retain). Any of its an improvement.

Not sure how DeBrincat is worth #9, #28, and Quinn when Quinn has the potential to be a younger cheaper DeBrincat and that doesn't count the scoring we'll get from #9 and from #28 when we're in our championship window.

I'd do DeBrincat for #9 maybe but only if we knew he'd sign with us.

I'd be interested in DeBrincat but not at an equivalence of three first round pieces PLUS. Offer the 1st-round lacking Hawks 16 and 28 this year and see where that gets you. But no on Quinn and definitely not a 4-piece deal.
