The dichotomy in these responses is great lol. Personally I don’t think there is enough of a difference between 7 and 16 to take on a bad goalie on an awful contract

1. Part of his contract

2. Let’s see how you feel when you look at the board at 7

3. Let’s see how you feel when you see the goalies they run with

Holy cow, fire Adams. We have enough assets, and there isn't much difference between pick 7 and 16. You do not take on a terrible goalie to get a comparable asset. What the heck is wrong with this guy?

How about weaponizing your cap space with players that can actually play?!?! This organization is in such a sad state with Adams.

Hey man I'd call the WGR hotline for takes like this, more your crowd.

If we are assuming 50% retention.....that's actually a pretty solid deal. Murray isn't great but he's not Anderson/Dell levels bad. He's right in the average starter category. I'd prefer a better goalie....but he's light years better than Anderson.

Murray is likely hoping that he can end up in Toronto or Chicago, hence the unwillingness to waive for Buffalo.

I give Adams credit for taking the swing. He likely believes Bales can get Murray back to something resembling the guy who won Cups in Pittsburgh. Murray was solid after returning from his AHL stint. And moving up from 16 to 7 would have been nice.

They need to hire Craig Rivet as a "special negotiator". Have him get in contact with the players with NTC's and tell them all about how much he didn't want to come to Buffalo and how upset he was when he got traded there, only to completely change his mind once he actually got there and realized there is more to Buffalo than just the small area you see around the arena.

Murray is far from avg. About a .900 avg S% the last 3 years, pretty much right where our crap goalies were last year.

You have no idea about the % of retention.

All I know is that this would have been our starting goalie come Sept. and that is inexcusable.

Guys, it is much more likely that Murray nixed the trade not because he won’t play in Buffalo, but because he is angling to play for a better destination.

If it is buffalo or not bring or buffalo or Ottawa, good chance he waives for buffalo. But that’s not the reality of the situation

This was part of my wishful thinking too
