Honestly giving a good hard working old AHL guy that knows his place and is a captain for the AHL 450k seems like a good move for overall organizational reputation among players if nothing else.

100% agree. He won't count against the cap if he's in the AHL. He provides good leadership for the young guys and in a pinch you can call him up for 4th line minutes.

Totally. The guy works his ass off. Excellent example to have leading in the minors. Hopefully that's where he stays. I mean that in the nicest way, but when it comes to NHL call-ups next year, I would prefer if they stuck with players who contribute to winning or players who are coming up to gain NHL experience and develop.

My gut saying we signing boesar.
You will be disappointed. He is a product of other players on his line and does not drive the play. Also, he has success on the PP in Pastrnak's exact spot.

Would love to be wrong and see him succeed on the 2nd line with Lindholm but he is also a slower skater with injury history.

I'm with you on Boeser. It's not that he's a bad player, but with Pasta, Geekie and Lindholm here, where is the fit? Boeser is a shooter with average-to-below-average footspeed, kind of like Geekie but without Geekie's physical presence (and chemistry with Pasta). All righties they won't use 4 right-handed forwards on the PP and if your giving Boeser an expensive long-term deal and not using him on PP 1, you won't get full value or close to it, on that deal.

Love the player but just don't see the fit given he is Geekie/Pastrnak hybrid with less foot speed and wants their spots.

Tampa had the 5th best PP running 4 left handed players on their 1st unit. Why wouldn't it work using 4 right handed players?

He can definitely help many of the teams out there who lack his skill-set. Some teams have very few guys who can shoot like him. I debate how much he could help the Bruins relative to the money and term commitment required to sign him.

I'm much more interested in Ehlers for example. Not the heaviest player but left-shot winger with the skill and composure to make plays. That Perfetti goal to tie the game, Ehlers whiffs on the shot but gets the puck back and has the composure to not just fire it again into the crowd but goes east-west and we know the rest.

They didn't use all the lefties up front. One was the point-man Hedman. They still had the righty Point in the bumper. I think it's fine using 4 guys of the same hand if one of them is the point man.

It's also a PP run by the arguably the league's best playmaker in Kucherov.

Regardless of who the PP point man is (McAvoy/Lohrei), I don't see how a PP of Boeser/Lindholm/Geekie/Pasta works. To much similarity in skill-sets IMO. And if it doesn't work, now you have a heck of a lot of coin tied up in that group of 4 once you sign Boeser and extend Geekie.

Winnipeg ran a 2nd unit of all lefties up front a few years ago ( Copp, Dubois, Perreault, Ehlers ) that was highly effective.

I also think just because Boeser will be paid well and a top 6 player, doesn't mean he can't get work done on the 2nd unit. Ehlers was a 2nd unit PP guy. Bennett is right now with Florida. Seguin and Robertson were on the 2nd unit when they picked up Rantanen. It's a bi-product of having a good top 6.

Find an example of all righties. I can't think of one.

Bennett/Seguin/Robertson/Ehlers are all better overall players and bring more to the table. Boeser is a complimentary shooter/goal-scorer with averaging skating. If his goal production drops off, he's borderline useless.

Current teams, I can't. It might have been the Bruins back in 09/10 when they ran the all righty line of Krejci, Wheeler, Ryder ( and PP2 ) and then Wideman on the point.

Boeser is a goal scorer and it's what this team needs the most. He doesn't solve all their issues but it's a step in the right direction.
