Please don’t trade Gurriel. I’d rather they offer Grichuk and 20M in cash, lol.

Biggio is covering for every position but catcher I think. LOL

His dad was a catcher...probably has an old mitt his son can borrow.

Does anyone remember Jays hitting coach Mickey Bradley Michael's dad?

Roster is in a flux.
Vlad, Teoscar and Brantley's best position is DH. Might even add Rowdy to that list. Won't be improving the team D with these guys playing a position as an improvement the management called out for the offseason.

also management said need to cut down on walks. Re-signed Robbie Ray and his RH equiv Chatwood. 2 of the worst contributers of walks in all of baseball.

Maybe Lourdes gets moved back to the inf. 2nd or 3rd?

Lots of excitment and moving pieces.

So conceivably couldn't we just run a set up with Gurriel-Springer-Teo in the outfield Brantley is our DH and Grichuk is a bench piece if we can't trade him in which case...he is a really good bench piece. This hopefully doesn't mean the end of one of Teo or Gurriel, take the incredible depth in the outfield and run with it unless there is a trade for a pitcher you simply can't turn from.

Craig started out as catcher? Didn't know that.

Yes for sure I remember Mickey Brantley. Had one good year (87?) then just fizzled out. Not sure if he had injury issues or what.

I'm guessing we either dump Grichuk and use that $$ to sign a pitcher, or trade Gurriel or Hernandez for a good pitcher.

I'd be surprised if we stood pat at this point.

Man getting Brantley as well. This team got deep in a hurry when you add in Yates, Chatwood and possibly Hand as well. Have to think a trade is coming for a starting pitcher with the OF depth we have.

Pretty fun day adding an impact bat, bullpen depth on the right side, and a strong lefty bat for balance.
Showing activity in all the markets (premium FA, rebound FA, middle tier, value market)
Creating expendable proven OF depth and some players at the bottom of the 40 man, still lots of projectable controllable catcher depth, lots of prospect capital, and passable/tradable contracts. Lots of desirable moving parts.
The chatter about Brad Hand is cool. A power lefty for the pen would be great. That could end up an overpowering group of arms.
Still linked to decent free agent starters.
Linked to logical IF targets. Trades and FA. A LH 3B/2B seems a smart fit, too.
Other players hinting at wanting to be here (Walker, maybe Wong).
Pretty awesome, fun stuff.

Offensively...how does this lineup stack up against the JD, Jose, EE lineup?

IMO, we might not have as much HR power..but overall, we are a deeper / better hitting team.

I think we are underestimating Grichuk’s trade value. Mainly because we see him play everyday, but to other teams he’s still a potential 25-30 HR guy with decent defense. His contract isn’t cheap but he’s not THAT overpaid either.

I think better, but it's hard to say because a lot of the key current guys are young.

Bautista, Donaldson, and EE were right in their primes and you knew exactly what you were getting. I do think the depth of better right now, and the top of the rotation is at least similar.

Potential lineup of:

2B - Biggio
CF - Springer
SS - Bichette
DH - Brantley
1B - Guerrero Jr.
RF - Hernandez
LF - Gurriel
3B - ???
C - Kirk/Jansen

That is pretty god damn nasty. If Vladdy breaks out the way we are all hoping for him to(ball in the air plz big guy!) then it could eventually be as good. Which is the other good thing, that is a young lineup.

Circle back to Bauer and say "How do you like us now?" ?
Has he not been pretty vocal/critical about the whole Houston cheating scandal? I doubt he likes us more today lol. He was seen just a few days ago at a Coyotes game wearing a “Houston Cheated” t-shirt lol.

Not that it would deter him from signing here I don’t think. Money talks.
