This is exactly the way to do it. Don't overpay the guys that go early. Don't panic. Let the market come back to you.
I mean in most years he would've gotten something better, but I think in this specific situation it was the right thing to do. Springer market seemed to be centered around the Mets and Jays the whole time.

I can't imagine this is accurate. That just doesn't seem like enough money.
Would not shock me whatsoever if it came out that he was getting more from us. I just also don't find it hard to believe that with the Mets and Padres already mostly have sung their song, that Springer wasn't able to get teams to pony up 100+ million for a CF on the wrong side of 30.

So does this mean Grichuk is getting traded?

I would probably guess he's the 4th outfielder who plays a lot more than your typical 4th outfielder. Hopefully the DH can be rotated which means 4/9 of the time Grichuk is either the DH or is playing the OF when another OF is DH. Probably gets a few more games here and there when others are getting full days off, or Teo is getting DH duties on a Vlad/Rowdy full day off. I could see him playing 2/3 of the games as a 4th outfielder.

No if anything i think they move grich to left and trade lourdes in a package for a starter. Id prefer grichuk obviously but doubt he has any trade value. All cards got was leone and greene
I can’t see them trading either Lourdes or Teo. Both seem really tight with Vladboggio.

So if we get Springer who's next?
If Springer is only getting an AAV of 23 million like the previous report says, they should be able to comfortably overpay for Tanaka to keep him in North America.

Also definitely give Brantley and Odorizzi's agents a call and see how their offseason is going.

There's to much of a log jam at corner outfield and 1B/DH to sign Brantley as much as I like his bat
