Jays should have forced Vladdy to lose that weight before bringing him up to the majors... they'd have been doing him a favour as it turns out.
You generally can't force people to lose weight. Professional athletes or not. Vladdy had to decide for himself that his health was important to him and by the looks of him he did. Which is great.

Say we had signed

- Donaldson 5 x $30m in 2018
- Price 7 x $30m in 2016
- 1 of EE/Joey for 4 x $30m in 2017

Right now we would have:

- Josh as 3B for 2 x $30m projected for 4.2war/650 this yr
- Price as #2SP for 2 x $30m projected for 2.7war/32 this yr

Throughout Vlad's weight loss updates I always remained cautiously optimistic because of situations in the past where players have made a big deal about it and then when the seasons starts they just end up gaining it all back or their play just continues to regress (i.e Pablo Sandoval.)

But maaaaan this looks so promising.

This is generally a very bad idea, if you force an athlete through a rigorous weight change program whether it be to gain or lose a lot in a short period of time. If they're not ready for it mentally or physically, you're setting yourself up for failure.

My memory isn't my best attribute but iirc the Jackets tried to put Nikita Filatov through something like that and it completely blew up in their face.

Lol Sid telling Bauer to get the highest AAV ever somewhere else. He’ll be the first one crying when the jays don’t sign him.

I don’t watch Tim and sid for this reason but it’s just on

Yeah I agree. They used to be good on the score but they lost it with their hot takes.

I remember after salutegate, Sid absolutely torn Phaneuf apart. Saying he was the captain and needed to take responsibility. Sid just went off, absolutely unhinged. Maybe an hour later Phaneuf called in and all Sid can do was sit there like a coward with an angry look on his face while Tim asked most of the questions.

Always wondered what that 2016 team could have done if Price had re-signed. That post TDL 2015 team had a historic run so seeing them over a full season would have been a treat. Him leaving and signing with the Red Sox as well wasn't the best for that 2016 season specifically.

Source? I don't see anything on MLBTR.

Just saw two seperate videos just posted on Youtube saying it.

They said Jim Bowden said it on MLB radio.

Who knows it could be total BS just would be dissapointing as a Jays fan if true.

Happ was better than Price in 2016 anyways.

Sid is absolutely insufferable. Ruins the whole show with his garbage takes.

I agree, Sid has gone full Skip Bayless but think he does this to keep clicks/views up.
You can see sometimes that Tim rolls his eyes or bites his lip when Sid is doing one of his over the top rants/hot takes. Don't get me wrong, he makes me laugh the odd time but it's becoming more and more rare as the years go on.
Only watch it here and there because they do have some high profile people on for interviews.

I can't stand JD on Good show, he has diarrhea mouth and barely lets Ben or the guests ever get a word in.
Ya he may have some good points but he never shuts up to allow other opinions.

Springer wore a Jays jersey once before, he didn’t like it;

Is that a variation of the muscley-armed logo on his hat? I wouldn't be happy about that either.

Another ace on trade block? Here are 5 fits
Blue Jays
It's been a close-but-no-cigar winter for a Blue Jays club that many felt would pull off the biggest moves, but there's still time to spend some of the prospect capital that team president Mark Shapiro and general manager Ross Atkins set aside for the Francisco Lindor derby. Toronto has a solid top two atop its rotation in Hyun Jin Ryu and Nate Pearson and good back-end depth in Robbie Ray, Tanner Roark and Ross Stripling, but another frontline arm like Castillo would really help this upstart club make some noise in the AL East. Despite callups for their brightest young stars in recent years, the Blue Jays still owned MLB Pipeline’s seventh-ranked farm system as of last September.
