I'd rather not sign Kim for 4-5 years just from some of the reading I have done.

At least some things are happening now and I think we will see more signings and trades in the next two weeks or so.

It comes down to money or fit on the field in the end. Lets see. Daniel isn't so sure he ends up in SD.

Well a bit disappointing. Not sure how good he’ll be but it would’ve been nice to get a free wallet. Maybe some of the rumours about him wanting a demotion clause in his contract were right and we weren’t about it.

This front office has come empty handed so far but I'm reserving judgement until other big names follow.

With what was rumored in terms of guarantees I wasnt comfortable going ahead with that.

To be fair, every team has struck out on the big names so far since none have signed. The Padres have landed the last 2 big name pitchers on the trade market in Snell and Chevinger and apparently in the lead to get Darvish as well, so not many other teams doing anything.

Damn thought we had Kim. And his relationship with Ryu. I guess it probably came down to money and playtime.

Same! I am a bit surprised but he also was asking for a lot of concessions.

Not sure what is going to happen anymore this off season lol but at least things seem to be moving a tad.

I'd imagine more chance to win now. The Padres have to move an infielder to the outfield just to give him a spot, and it's a spot he doesn't even play. If they don't, he's a utility infielder for guys to get days off or DH.

At least the Jays had a wide open spot at 3B so you'd think a better position and more playing time as it stands now.

Likely came down to money, San Diego being nice place to live and they are a world series contender right now.

I feel like the Rays win every trade. And I know very little of the players they got in return.
The Rays might do well when they make trades. However having been to Tropicana Field to see a Blue Jays vs Rays game in August 2017, I can see why they get very little attendance despite being successful the past few seasons because they keep trading away their good players.

Playing out of California also saves players that want to travel to Asia 5 hours. That's typically reason #1, as it has been with many in the past. It makes sense that if everything else is equal your rather play on the west coast

Nothing like getting Snell, Darvish and Kim in the last 24 hours.

Some of the rumoured names involved are Rookie of the year finalist UTL Jake Cronenworth, their #4 prospect C Luis Campusano and SP Zach Davies.
Sounds like those 3 plus another for Darvish and Caratini.
