Off Season Move(s) Thread

Billy doesn't have any plan whatsoever. He is just shooting from the hip, demonstrated by his horrible signing of Treniyawn and how Boston fleeced him in the New Guy deal.

The guy who only had 8 goals in 80 GP this year? I can’t.

Think we're getting to a point where we're placing an oversized importance on faceoffs again, so probably a good time for me to say, if Rossi won 52% of his faceoffs this season, he'd have won 3 extra faceoffs every 5 games, which is very likely a negligible difference when you consider Rossi took 60 faceoffs in those 5 games.

Then @Dr Jan Itor comes in and says it's more about the timing/zone that the faceoff that matters, and we need a clutch faceoff stat, and we all lament that there really isn't one.

Then we look at the breakdown of Rossi's faceoffs and see that he was actually basically 50% on the draw on the PP, and he only took 5 faceoffs on the PK and realize he's not really the problem, and that Eriksson Ek was 35% on the PK and that's probably a bigger concern lol.

I’m not interested in Danaults 5.5 mil cap hit. I’d rather have Gaudreau at that price.

Wouldn’t it have been nice if Fenton pulled the trigger on the Dumba/Nylander trade….

Guerin/Hynes would have had Willy in the 4th line trying to get him to commit to grinding and playing with some FU

the other thing about FO's is that they are often won, or lost, by the wingers.

Clutch faceoff % doesn’t matter with Rossi because he doesn’t play on the penalty kill (gee, I wonder why…).

Also, let’s not bend reality here. Rossi was under 49% on power play draws. That’s not “basically 50%.”

You're right, which is why it's a much bigger issue that Eriksson Ek won only 30 out of 85 shorthanded draws

Lol

Yeah, he was under 49% (48.936% to be more exact). He was also 1 faceoff win away from being 50%.

Trade all of our shitty centers. I don’t care anymore. There’s no point in being attached to these 4 chumps if they are not helping us win playoff series.

Maybe he should have won that 1 faceoff :sarcasm:

The writing is on the wall that Hedit is not a part of the future here. He’ll he used in a trade of some sort. The only forward prospects I think they have in the plans as of right now are Yurov, Ohgren, Stramel and maybe Haight.
How is the writing on the wall about Heidt? I'm not doubting you, I just haven't seen it and am hoping to learn.
Seems really early to make a decision on any prospect, but hey, if you have intel about Heidt from inside the MN team then I'm all ears. I thought he was a good pick a the very end of the 2nd, but it could be that was for a reason, and that he is a long shot to be a NHL'er. Still think they owe to themselves, and Heidt, to give him a year or two in Iowa at a minimum to develop. Dumping him this early on seems wrongheaded, to me. A guy like Conor McMichael didn't really hit his stride in the NHL till his D+6 year. Heidt just finished his D+ 2 year.
