Off Season Move(s) Thread

I don't think he's that soft tbh. I would wait and see what transfers, but I think he can develop into a Ryan Hartman type. Hartman isn't overtly physical but he's not soft.
We’ll see. I don’t see a lot of “JAM” in his game, as Guerin would like to call it. I think he’s more of a top 6 or bust kinda guy, and I don’t see a lot of spots for him in the lineup assuming Guerin is brining in some more established top 6 guys and Ohgren/Yurov hit.

Not a fan of moving Brodin, but I wouldn't hate this:

Rossi + Brodin + Trenin for Peterka + Kulich (Buffalo fans seem very interested in Brodin)

Sign Marner @ $14M x 7-8

Sign Peterka @ $8M x 8

Sign Chisholm (or UFA D) up to $2M

Kap - Ek - Marner
Boldy - Yurov - Peterka
Ohgren - Hartman - Zucc
Foligno - Kulich - Gaudreau
Virus

Buium - Faber
Chisholm/UFA - Spurgeon
Middleton - Jiricek
Bogo

Chisholm on the second pair? Ooof

Mainly cause Spurgeon could carry that pairing much more so than Jiricek could.

I wouldn’t really feel comfortable with Jiricek playing with Chisholm or a cheap UFA signing on a consistent basis.

You could maybe sign Boeser/Ehlers & Gavrikov instead of Marner. I believe this projection had $17M in space with Marner off the roster.

This is pretty good damn good and you hopefully have a legit top 6 pencilled in there.

If it is Nelson + Boeser I hope its Nelson for 2 years(Buium/Ohgren/Yurov ELCs, Wallstedt's deal too) at as high as we can fit with a handshake for additional term lower ala Goligoski and then Boeser whatever term gets the lowest cap-hit. But I really struggle with Boeser's linemates 5-on-5, he's not going to make anyone a better player there. Every winger I can think of that fits with a Nelson signing has flaws though, would much rather just keep Rossi at C with Nelson as his winger taking his face-offs.

Nelson feels like a 3-4 year deal and Boeser a 5-7 year deal

Kap/Nelson/Boeser
Boldy/JEE/???
Hartman/???/???
Trenin/Freddy G/???
???
Zucc, Yurov, Ohgren, Hinstroza, Foligno, UFA 12th FWD fill the the ??? How Yurov and Ohgren do in camp will set the rest of the lineup.

Yeah I'm saying if Nelson fits at 7.5M next year and wants 4/25 we could structure it 2/15 with a 2/10 verbally agreed extension in 2027, similar to the Goligoski deal(1/5 followed by 2/4, 3/9 would've cost 1M more years 2/3, this example would save 1.25M years 3/4). Buium/Ohgren/Yurov/Wallstedt will all be RFAs in 2027, so every bit saved could help(Spurgeon/Hartman expiring).

I'm not saying its a good idea or will backfire like that one, but that did happen not too long ago, could see it happening again.

I'm against the handshake deal like we think happened with Goli. I think it's also too big of a risk for the player for it be something they would consider. The GM could be gone in 2 years, injuries, the GM's mind changes, etc.

Really if MN doesn't give a UFA (or any player) what they want, and a different team will, then they'll just sign with that other team. Maybe you could sell a player on the taking a 2 year contract because the cap is supposed to go up so much? Or the 1 year 35+ contract with bonuses attached as a way to earn more money.

I'm not worried about re-signing the guys you mentioned. That's a bridge to cross when we get there. If they all hit big then you make the cap work for them (bridge deals, buyouts, capdumps, etc.). If they don't then it's worrying for nothing.

That honestly looks to me like another 3 to 4 years of buyout hell if that happens. Dude just has the 'Fall off a cliff at 32' kind of vibe to me.
100%. Don’t want both of them. Rather let Ohgren or Yurov play into a Top 9 hole and worst case we have some cap flexibility coming into the deadline for once.

I prefer Nelson. He’s a rangy finisher who should age relatively well.

If a good 4C hits the market, that’d be somewhere I would look to spend some excess $. I’m Freddied out

It also screams good enough to draft 18th and never make it out of the first round

Since the Wild are probably entering their "win now" window now I cannot imagine Rossi being traded for futures only. They either get a deal done in whatever form or trade him for immediate help. It doesn't make sense to trade him for picks at all. Which makes the whole offer sheet twice as interesting.
