Yeah, considering we lost 5 of our top 6 prospect from last year (Gose to promotion), it would be foolhardy to think we're still close to a top 10 spot right now. But, we've still got a lot of gems who can become players if things break right, they're not as close to sure things as what we gave up (if you can call the guys we gave up sure things), but we've got a ton of high-upside guys left, and you can still count Gose and Hutchison when looking at future players for us...

Sanchez (top 25 prospect, maybe better and still only going to Dunedin this year)
Osuna
Stroman
Nolin
Norris
Smoral
Davis
Jiminez
Stilson
Nessy
Anderson
Alford (if he gets his **** together and chooses baseball)
Cardona
Tirado
Baretto
DeJong
Gonzales

Every team has their hit/miss guys, but we've still got a bunch who are in the low-minors with tons of potential, and after this draft we'll have a few more of those high end prospects filling out the top of our prospect lists.

Only reaction to this pic.

Also that gif should be the only reaction to someone saying Arencibia would be able to catch Dickey.

That is amazing. I love how the ball never has any spin to it. I guess that's why it's called a nuckle, but its amazing that you can control the ball to move a certain way and it goes that way until the end. This particular gif shows how much this pitch can fool a player.

it's like Dice-K and his "gyro ball"

but this is a real pitch and it works.

(you'd think more kids would try learning it, ya know?)

a) it's called a knuckle due to his grip, not its rotation

b) you can't control it. the destination is random.

I can see Norris, Cardona and Smoral having big years and vault us back int he top 10 range.

Clearly he's just covered a wiffleball with some tissue paper and somehow made it look like a baseball.

That's the only way you can explain it.

That is one crazy look at the pitch.

After seeing that for 3 at bats, Morrows power should look like lightning the next day.

Nice Avy man. I was under the impression I was the only one to take Nemisis up on his offer.

Thanks again Nemisis.

What a special time in this city. 92 was huge but 93 was even bigger. I watched that hit, with 3 friends who the year before would have never watched a baseball game. But that night, it was like we'd all been there since the days of Upshaw, Mosby, Bell and Barfield.

The city was so crazy. THE 92 world series, 92-93 Gilmour, Clark and Potvin take the Leafs to the COnference Finals. Then the Jays repeat. Just amazing.

So who steps in for Synder and Nicholino in Lansing? I'm assuming Osuna is one after 20 strong innings with Vancouver. I'd assume that 2nd spot would be open for Norris but he had a step back this year so I'm not sure.

I still can't believe the season Taylor Cole had. 66.1IP, 0.81era, 57k.
He's been through the draft 3 times but seemed to find lightning in a bottle last year.

Klaw, do you see TDA continuing at C long term, or do the Mets need to think of him in the outfield or first base (and trading / mivng Ike Davis). If he can stay healthy and at C, the Dickey trade was a no brainer for the Mets, but if not ...

Klaw (3:05 PM)

d'Arnaud is a catcher. He's not Posey where the bat might play elsewhere and still make him a star.

Iain (Toronto)

So where do you rank Toronto's farm system now? 1-30

Klaw (3:06 PM)

I haven't done firm rankings yet, but top of my head I'd say 16-20 range.

Kevin (Toronto)

Do you agree that d'Arnaud is a "scouting" prospect, as some have recently suggested? I've seen his numbers, from the hitters-friendly PCL, compared unfavourably to Yan Gomes and Jeff Mathis.

Klaw (3:14 PM)

You largely have to discard hitters' park numbers (it's not the PCL specifically, but certain parks, like Vegas and Albuquerque) for top position players and focus instead on performance at other levels and the scouting reports. The main problem is that non-prospects can rake there but top prospects still face a ceiling on their overall stats - a natural .250 hitter might hit .320 in Albuquerque, but a natural .330 hitter won't hit .400. I've seen d'Arnaud, and I believe he can hit and he's coming into some power. He needs to play more than 88 games a year.

Chris (Toronto)

Can you elaborate on why you feel A. Sanchez is a much superior player to Syndegaard

Klaw (3:14 PM)

Better stuff across the board, better delivery, better athlete. Does that cover it?

Bill (ON)

Who you got? Norris or Osuna and why?

Klaw (3:17 PM)

Osuna. Norris' arm action has never impressed me and I think it's behind the varying velocity and lack of command.

Mike P. Moffatt (London, ON)

Are there any obvious adjustments JP Arencibia make to stop being a total out machine?

Klaw (3:18 PM)

I can't imagine a guy with plate discipline that bad suddenly figuring out how to get on base.

Jack (ON)

Thoughts on Stroman as a starter? You think DJ Davis will ever be able to hit enough to be a good outfielder?

Klaw (3:27 PM)

Stroman has the stuff to start but his fastball is pretty flat, a function of his height. I think he's got all the mental variables you'd want to see in a starter, but he might just end up too homer-prone to stay in the rotation
