Source: Dickey in agreement with #BlueJays on two-year, $25 million extension that he had requested from #Mets, pending physical.

Sorry if it has been posted. Just want to get it out there.

So R.A. Dickey apparently will earn an average of $10 million a season for the next three years, during seasons he's 38, 39 and 40 years old

Imagine if someone a year ago said we'd sign the batting title holder* for $8m/yr and the reigning cy young winner for $10/yr

Wooot.
I really hope Oliver comes back as it rounds out this team nicely. I know hype right now is insane but if Romero bounces back I dont think its far fetched to say we have maybe the best roster in the entire league.

I dont think it would be. Sure our 1-2 wouldn't be the best in the league (its still top 5, but id probably give that to the Dodgers) but our 3-4-5 would be the best.

With Dickey in agreement pending physical as per @Ken_Rosenthal, #BlueJays have $125.6m on books for '13, $102.5m for '14, $89.25m for '15

Now the question is, how much is Rogers willing to spend to keep Josh Johnson? He's already making 13.75m....do we push into the 135s? 140s?

also, 125.6-13.75 = 111.85, which is 13.75m in salary coming off the books...who else's contract is up after this year?

Players involved in trade have not been informed yet (at least one), so it's not officially done.

They might just be contacting the wrong players. They might be contacting the players who were rumoured to be in the deal and if they aren't then they'll never be contacted. I'm still holdin out hope that the deal is not as reported

Best ROSTER.

Rotation you're probably right. But combine that with Reyes/Melky/Bats/EE/Lawrie and overall the team is definitely better on paper than any NL team.

Would be awesome to resign him but If he bolts lets make a play for Halladay.

2014 season

Dickey
Morrow
Halladay
Buerhle
Romero

With reyes and Buerhle both on back loaded contracts their salaries will be going up as well. They'll have to be willing to spend to keep him and I see him in the 20 per range if he has a good year.

I very much doubt that but they were looking for outfield help so who knows. The waiting game has officially begun

Another underlying thing with all these trades and addition of talent is that it takes alot of pressure off a guy like Lawrie to perform and possibly even Rasmus (a little more pressure for him because his job might be on the line) but its not like we need these guys to have great years to be sucessfull.

I think 20M/yr gets Johnson pretty easily. If I'm guessing, if he has a really good year, or we sign him before the start of the season, he probably end up in the 17-18M level, so I don't think we'll be much higher than $125 if we sign him and replace the other $12M we'll be losing with lower costs (Lind, Davis, Janssen and Oliver are the majority of that 12M, and Lind and Janssen both have 2014 options for lower money). I guess the variable is our arb FAs (Bonifacio, Happ, Rasmus, Cecil, Arencibia and Lawrie), but I don't think those'll be huge numbers at least for 14 & 15.

I imagine the salary number for this year won't be much higher for the next two years after even with a decently large contract for Johnson.
