Aww yiss.

This is a team this city absolutely needs to get behind. None of this 10k-13k attendance ********.

LET'S GO BLUE JAYS!

Agreed. I don't think the Jays will have any problem getting support though, by springtime Toronto is going to go nuts.

R.A. Dickey missing a ligament in his elbow. Anyone know if that's gonna be a problem for him at all?

It hasn't been thus far.. The UCL is what requires TJ, so that wont be a problem..

Besides, thats a big part of why he started throwing the knuckleball.

I googled Syndergaard and RA Dickey's baseball-reference page came up 2nd for some reason and I wasnt looking...RA was 18th apparently lol

Maybe you clicked on his page once and the page contains a syndergaard keyword? For me his full name yeilds jaysprospects.com first.

I get a bleacherreport hit, and baseball reference on the left side. But on the right side there's a GIANT picture of Kevin Ahrens and a brief synopsis of his wiki page. I was just srsly confused for a bit.

It's also weird bc on the page it lists Ahrens as "Born: August 10, 1990 (age 22), Valencia
Drafted: 2007
Positions: Shortstop, Third baseman, Pitcher, Catcher, Relief pitcher, First baseman, Center fielder, Right fielder"

Epic utility man...

I'll never understand why people, despite being shown otherwise, continue to think that J.P. is "decent" or "at least average". He's not. He has been below-average, to this point, for a major league starting catcher. You can argue that he could improve, and become at least an average catcher (something no one can prove or deny), but if you think that J.P. will perform at the level he did last year for the next four or five years (taken from your post), you're essentially saying that the Jays will be fielding a below-average catcher for the next four or five year (assuming he's not replaced). I'm not sure about you, but I'm not okay with that. Luckily we have Jiminez still if d'Arnaud is traded.

I'm just saying JP is a known commodity. You have the ability to field a slightly below (with improvment maybe slightly above) average catcher for the next 5 years. Thats probably more than we can say about the future of our OF for the next five years. Which is why I like keeping Gose over TDA. No doubt TDA stings tho.

Also lets not forget, we're still not married to JP for 5 years. We have more prospects we can deal, and possibly young position players... we clearly have money to spend (maybe not this year, but in the next 2-3 years). FA names like McCann, Ruiz, Salty and V-Mart are scheduled to be FA's.

If JP isn't good enough to put us over the top we can adjust.

if we don't win in 3-4 years, AA will still be re-stocking the farm over that span anyway. We've got our current farm without even any top picks. Syndergaard was 18th overall, D'Arnaud 38th...

Syndergaard was not picked 18th overall. He was picked 38th overall.

Travis was also picked 37th, not 38th.

I WANT THE FULL DETAILS ON THE TRADE!!!!!

Would be pretty good if Flores is the prospect we get back.

$12.5 million is excellent value if Dickey can maintain a semblence of his form for the next 3 seasons.

So R.A. Dickey apparently will earn an average of $10 million a season for the next three years, during seasons he's 38, 39 and 40 years old

Fair enough.

I'd still prefer to keep d'Arnaud, but I can see where you're coming from.

Blue jays rotation over the past 3 years -

Dickey 39 - 28

Morrow - 31 - 25

Romero - 38 - 34

Buehrle - 39 - 35

Johnson - 22 - 21

Leaving us with 169W - 143W

56 - 48

Starting rotation is a plus 8 in a single season. Obviously they faced top opponents mostly every game and will allow them to have better match ups.

So if this trade falls through, how long is the Jays window for a championship, im guessing 3 years given the age of our top players?

With Dickey in agreement pending physical as per @Ken_Rosenthal, #BlueJays have $125.6m on books for '13, $102.5m for '14, $89.25m for '15

Shi Davidi ‏@ShiDavidi

Correction, $119.1m on #BlueJays books for '13 including Oliver, arb projections for Bonifacio, Rasmus, Happ. 0-3 renewals remain atop that

Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN

Dickey just landed in FLA to undergo his physical with the Jays. Some of his 2-year, $25m extension with TOR will be a signing bonus for '13

Buster Olney ‏@Buster_ESPN

Dickey asked for some of his '14-'15 extension to be pushed up front to '13, to help offset tax difference...
