How does the MLB draft compare to the NHL draft for a newbie like me who only follows hockey. Do the prospects take as long as nhl prospect to get to the big league or is longer or shorter. Also how long are the rounds in the draft and what the talent like, is the 1st round picks bring good value.

Thanks

They take much longer. 18-19 year olds very rarely play unless they are freaks. Bust potential is much greater. Pujols was taken in the 14th round and those sort of things are common.

Much easier to predict NHL prospects

Baseball prospects are probably similar to goalie prospects

Nobody. The Lugnuts twitter account got punked by some random blogger. Please check these links before you post them people.
That's what I figured it was - but seeing Lansing retweet it was what caught my eye when it was posted here. Still didn't believe it because it's D'Arnaud or bust it seems for the Mets.

Once again: Accredited media sources only.

Ken Rosenthal, Jon Morosi, Shi Davidi, Buster Olney, etc. If you're going to use a twitter feed as your source to break any news about the trade, it MUST come from someone who has established baseball media credibility or it must come from a reputable news outlet (Fox Sports, ESPN, TSN, Sportsnet, that sort of thing). I don't care who retweets something or what is being claimed by how many people. If it's not out of the mouth, metaphorically speaking, of someone with actual baseball cred, it does not belong on here.

I get that everyone has this fascination with being the first one to break a story and get whatever pointless e-props that comes along with that, but please slow down and think about what you're posting rather than just pressing to beat every other poster to the punch.

and if anyone attempts to post fake or joke rumors for kicks, you will be kicked out of the thread.

I would deal Syndergaard if it meant keeping D'Arnaud and I love Syndergaard. We have an abundance of high ceiling arms, not so much with position players and on top of that he is still a ways off from being in the big leagues, D'Arnaud is not.

I love Syndegaard but like you said we have tons of pitching to replace him.
We have no one to replace TDA and a big hole at catcher imo.

To be fair, it was posted from Lansing's twitter. Not his fault they got punked. If I saw that, I would have posted it too. Lansing, you would think, would have some inside track. Apparently not.

I was wondering what happened to those posts

We are probably going to go through 2 Jays threads in a 24 hour span lol, did we even do that with the Miami trade?

No, it was posted from the twitter feed of the guy that originated it. and it was just retweeted by the Lansing twitter with full credit given to that guy. At no point was it credited to the Lugnuts twitter account breaking the news themselves.

and like I said, who retweets something is irrelevant. Retweeting something is entirely on whatever random person is operating the org's twitter feed.

This needs to be shared

"are you concerned about how dickey will react to the cold? im thinking shrinkage"

We went through one in matter of hours. I think the 2nd stretched into the next day. It's alot of stuff to sift through, but I love the attention the Jays are getting. Hopefully they all buy tickets!

Well between it being unofficial to official we probably burned through a few threads. :)
The deal went pretty quickly though, we've had so much speculation within these past 24 hours.

I hope this Dickey deal will go through. I want the most phallic rotation, it completes the jerkball sequence.

Quite a nasty change up of styles eh?

Morrow (power)
Dickey (knuckler)
Johnson (power)
Buerhle (finess)
Romero (crap)

this is probably also a good point to bring up that while I'm all for clever dickey jokes, there is a line of good taste that shouldn't be crossed. Not banning the jokes, as a lot of them are funny and harmless enough, but just don't go for the lowest common denominator/vulgarity.

To the poster a few pages back that said if we got Dickey the Phillies, Rays and Giants all still have better rotations......that's an absolute joke. The Giants got Cain and Baumgarter and that's it. Lincecum struggled and has a huge year ahead of him to get back on track. Zito is old and is going to regress again soon. The Rays just traded their second best pitcher and are after Price/Hellickson are pretty thin. As for the Phillies, clearly Doc ain't what he used to be, Lee isin't as dominant as he once was and they traded Worley who has a pretty promising future. The only other team I would put on the Jays level would be the Dodgers with Kershaw/Greinke/Billingsley/Harrang.

Thats what makes this rotation so lethal. You go from trying to hit a knuckle ball one day to trying to touch a 95 mph heater. It's going to be awesome watching this rotation. Also haha poor Ricky lol

Yes, I know they were quoting him. I said he copied the tweet from Lansings twitter though.

I was also saying that you'd think part of the organization wouldn't retweet crap bloggers (like they did). I would have made the same mistake and posted it too from Lansing's twitter if I saw it, that's all.
