To be honest, I'm kind of surprised the Mets aren't willing to do that deal. 13 million for two years seems decent, have to be confident Rogers will pony up.

From what I understand, they wanted 26 over 3 (including the 5 they owe this year). They are lowballing him, which is the only reason he is available.

Also if everyone else is going all useless twitter, I'm dropping this one on y'alls

My MLB source tells me that if this trade gets done, it will be RA Dickey for Travis D'Arnaud and Noah Snydergaard. #Mets #BlueJays

I mean, I have more rep than that guy.

Hey, in 1992, the Jays traded a future MVP to rent David Cone for four months. I've never heard anyone complain.

Also an excellent point.

If the Jays trade D'Arnaud to get Dickey, and win a World Series I can witness (and appreciate this time), then I will quickly forget about D'Arnaud.

Not that it's the same situation, but everyone made fun of the Kaberle deal at the time, and even after.

If memory serves right, he lead their D in points, and they won the Cup. It's why you play the games.

If TDA is going back, no chance it would just be for Dickey. I think this trade would get bigger and theyd be giving us back at least one quality propsects for our system that may be a few years away still. Michael Fulmer would be a nice pick up, good righty, played in the SCL last year and had a decent year. Has a really storng work ethic. One year younger then Sanchez and Syndergaard but I think hed be going into Dunedin with them. (definitely see Fulmer as a prospect AA would go after)

Maybe:

Dickey + Davis + Fulmer

for

TDA + Rasmus + Lind

We get our Ace, they get the top prospect, we get another bat and they take some salary on, they get a starting CF with decent potential still, and we get a prospect that would just add more depth to the system.

Might as well just say
"I have read Baseball America and decided I want the Mets to have Travis D'Arnaud and Noah Syndergaard" notice the proper spelling of Syndergaard there lol.

You would complain over a prospect doing well on another team over enjoying a playoff run and a few more with the team we have? This is what I don't get with some people. They are so focused on prospects that they totally forget what the purpose for them is, and what the whole point of having a successful major league team. If the Jays make the playoffs while making this trade then I give AA full credit and I wish D'Arnaud well. It's been way too long since this team made the playoffs.

We would make the playoffs without Dickey. Keeping d'arnaud will extend the years we make the playoffs. Dickey is a ticking time bomb. Does that make sense to you?

They've finally realized they need to rebuild and they are moving older pieces out. Same thing the jays did. This is a perfect scenario for them getting to sell at his peak value.

I think we are wasting our time discussing this anyway. Didn't AA himself say that if you hear some Jays rumours in the media, they are probably not true?

Outside of Darvish (which was created by the media well before the bidding even occurred), there really hasn't been one that's had legs like this.

Even the guys who are usually shooting these down (Wilner, Davidi etc) have said there's something going on.

Someone pulled a quick one on a lot of people if thats true.

Oh really? I guess I am not as updated on this as most everybody here is.

Good thing he was reffering to Travis Esteban D'Arnaud and not our TDA. Plus Noah Snydergaard is a scrub, Syndergaard is much better.

Okay I'm going to not post an article from 7 hours ago...

Instead, I will say that if this breaks down I expect AA to go all Gary Bettman on us all

I think comparing a potential trade involving D'Arnaud in terms of hockey is awful. You're basically looking at age, status and prospect rank and making a sheer comparison (D'Arnaud -> Reilly, Dickey -> Selanne) without taking into account the differences in the prospect and development system of both sports, as well as other factors such as drafts (40 rounds compared to 7) as well as the amount of prospects available (Bauer who has been ranked as a top 5 prospect for the past year or so brought back a mediocre return; you can fault management a little for that though.)
