Why wouldn't it? The "world" isn't stopping anything. And no, im not "joking".

But why break news of a trade in professional sports on a day where much more important events have occurred? Call me crazy, but I think it makes perfect sense.

Alright..

Sometimes people use sports as an escape from the cruel realities of the world.

And it has nothing to do with what has transpired elsewhere. Its people going on with their daily lives. And yes, while something like this tragedy makes you reflect on what you have, people need to move on in their own ways.

If we wouldn't part with some of our big prospects for Latos and Gio last year I highly doubt we will now for Dickey.

The Blue Jays seem to be the top suitor, though Dickey will not do an extension with Toronto, sources said. That could be what is holding up a potential trade. Still, the Blue Jays appear to be the destination if the contract hurdle is solved.

The industry belief is that the Mets could get more in a package from the Jays if an extension was done.

i would rather get him for 1 yr and give up less

The climate from this year compared to last offseason is much different.

This team might honestly be one impact piece from being the best team in the AL.

Again, can someone tell me why we are about to give up best prospects for a 38 year old, even though he is pretty good? What guarantees are there that he will last?

The odds of that happening are so slim that it doesn't even warrant worrying about it.

agreed, but it doesn't make me any less nervous. d'Arnaud is the most untouchable from my perspective, so that one gets to me more. Gose is probably #3 or #4 behind the remaining 2 of the Lansing pitchers, but we're gonna need another OF soon enough and you can't really match the kind of package that Gose brings in terms of speed and D.

If there's any positivity to think of, it's that all the big names were in the Marlins mega-deal rumors and in the end all we lost was Hech and Nicolino.

Those reports of not signing a contract extension are false as already reported. I'm the kind of.."extension or no deal kinda guy". Wouldn't give up less for one year of "hoping". And I like R.A

I think the last 20 years are evidence enough..Time to go for it, Yankees are old and injured, Red Sox are a mess and their pitching is suspect, TB took a step back, and Baltimore will come back to earth after a crazy one in a million years type of stretch they had last season. It's the Jays time.

He will fit more with the Yankees

And Marisnick.:(

It seems to me that people in the media are just speculating on the return.

Still holding out hope that Gose isn't involved. And i have no interest in trading TDA whatsoever.

3 reasons. Dickey has been improving as his career has progressed. Dickey is a knuckleball pitcher and as such normal age curves do not necessarily apply. Dickey has a weird anatomy quirk in his elbow and has no (I believe) UCL ligament and thus is "immune" to Tommy John concerns.

As such he's seen as a relatively safe bet for at least the next couple of years. That said, no pitcher is without risk.

Jon Heyman is hearing that the players coming back from Toronto — assuming a deal can get done — are J.P. Arencibia and Anthony Gose, though that may just be speculation

JP or D'arnaud ?
that is the question

I think packaging together d'arnaud + gose can get you a future stud pitcher, like a latos or moore. Not the price i'd want to pay for a 38 year old however

jp arencibia ?@jparencibia9

"Thanks for the updates... Not worried! Bigger things in life! "

LMFAO!! Arencibia has been sooo sure he wasn't getting moved and now look at him. Although great hashtag for Connecticut.
Or "Not Worried" could simply mean he's not worried about trade talks because he's not going anywhere. :)

I've had a bad enough day already. Grandpa is in the hospital, dad has skin cancer... if JP gets traded I'll probably lose my mind. :(

Arencibia and Gose I could deal with. If D'Arnaud is part of it, forget it.
