Oilers will have about $50M committed to McD ($17) + Drai ($14) + Bouch ($10) + Nurse ($9) in just another year. Their only hope will be that these guys can average 38min a game.

But they’ve got Perry on the cheap to ensure losing in a dramatic fashion.

This is the Oilers' year to win. If not, it's going to be extremely hard when the extensions of Draisaitl and Bouchard kick in.

Bouchard 10M (at least)
Nurse 9.5M
Draisatl 14M
McDavid 15M (at least)

That's 48.5M minimum, probably 50M+ to four players who will be on the back 9 of their career. It's ovah.

This would be the Oilers year to win, but they signed Perry

One thing about the Drai deal is amazing. Never before have both Oiler fans and the rest of the league agreed. Everyone is ecstatic, if for opposite reasons (Oiler fans because they don’t quite get the salary cap, others because they do).

Barky, Tkachuk, Reino, Fors plus many others look like such bargains right now.

He has also put up 5 (!!!!!!!!!!!!) 100+ point seasons while making $8.7M thru his prime. All while being a historically good playoff performer.

The dude deserved to get paid.

Sorry I don't get this. Just because his last contract was a bargain doesn't mean a team should make up for it the next contract. Sure as a player you may want to make up for it, but as a team, you should never pay for past performance. Should always be about future value.
