Blue Jays: Gabriel Moreno, C (No. 1, MLB No. 32)
An easy one here. There’s a case to be made that Moreno was on track to make a 2021 debut, if not for a fractured thumb that knocked him out for nearly three months. He still produced a .373/.441/.651 line while showcasing impressive defensive skills in his 32 games at Double-A New Hampshire. The Major League presence of Danny Jansen, Alejandro Kirk and Reese McGuire complicate Moreno’s path, but the 21-year-old has the highest ceiling of the bunch and should earn his look when ready.
If the Asians leagues start I’m assuming he just signs at least a one year deal and stays thereYes. The posting process is held in abeyance until the league returns from the lockout. I believe the timeline restarts when the lockout ends.

I think fans should still be upset when Moreno outplays every catcher at camp and still gets sent down.
No they really shouldn’t. Spring doesn’t really tell the full story and he didn’t play many games above high a ball as of yet. We have time get him up. It’s better that he start in AAA and let them find value for the other catchers if needed during the season first. I think we’ll see one of them moved before or during spring trading to clear room with Reese as the number 3 although he also won’t clear waivers this time I don’t thinkI think fans should still be upset when Moreno outplays every catcher at camp and still gets sent down.
by remembering that winning games in April is just as important as winning games in September when you're crammed inside baseball's hardest division. Please remember how to run a franchise with the goal of winning a championship.

We've seen whispers for awhile now that they're shopping catchers in trades to upgrade elsewhere on the diamond and that is my assumption as well, which is why I believe in an avenue for Moreno to be on the opening day roster. If Kirk heads for Cleveland or Oakland, I really don't want the team to be giving at bats to a streaky Reese McGuire.
It's becoming less uncommon to see prospects rocket through the minors in their early 20s and if he looks ready for the majors then I think you have to pull the trigger.
My main issue with the quote was Law saying we probably won't see Moreno until "mid-year". If it's just service time reasons then I can live with that. And are those 16 days worth of games as important as having an extra year of player control?
i think they would dfa reese and not think twice about it(they already have this past year). the other 2 i agree. The Jays also have 3 catchers ahead with MLB value.. and you're not exactly gonna sell them and take a loss just to call up a prospect with control. So Moreno probably won't make it to the pros til some injuries knock some catchers out and the Jays can take advantage.
Another forum is doing a vote to eliminate a team a day and the main baseball forum is going after the Jays because the Jays sub-forum coordinated who to vote out (Jays have the biggest fanbase left of the remaining teams). So they are very angry with Jays fans for doing this.

If you guys want to upset the other fanbases, vote Minnesota so the Jays are the last team standing. If the Jays make it through to the next round, ill send tomorrow's link.
You can vote as many times as you like, as long as you are on a different IP address.

Going into the 2021 season, catcher Gabriel Moreno was ranked as the #8 prospect in the Blue Jays’ system by Baseball America. He finished 2019 playing A-ball, but due to the pandemic wiping out the entire minor leagues in 2020, he had yet to play at the higher levels of the minor leagues.
…
Baseball America now considers him the #1 prospect in the Blue Jays’ system, as well as #8 in all of baseball. Their scouting report highlights his eye for the strike zone, his developing power, his 41% caught stealing rate, with improved blocking and receiving. They predict Moreno, who turns 22 on Valentine’s Day, will be a future all-star who should make his MLB debut in 2022. That means the Blue Jays have a positional crunch on their hands, as Moreno is one of four catchers on the 40-man roster, with the other three all finishing the year with the big league club.
Regardless of how it plays out, it seems to be an enviable position for the Blue Jays brass. FanGraphs’ depth charts currently rank the team second at the backstop position, trailing only the Dodgers, ahead of the J.T. Realmuto-led Phillies and the Yasmani Grandal-led White Sox. And that’s even without any contribution from Gabriel Moreno, who should be one of most interesting prospects to watch this year.

Uh, that's exactly what you do, actually. Except take the loss part. You take a gain instead. It's called dealing from a position of strength to shore up weaknesses.
Keep in mind service time is one of the big sticking points of the CBA negotiations, so it's hard to imagine how much that will come into play next year.
