That and the limit on pick-off attempts. The size of the bases should give an advantage to the runner also.Early on in the season, there could be a lot of stolen bases as runners count how long the pitcher has to deliver the ball.
I can't imagine Dan will be doing all 162 on PBP. He stepped back from ESPN to be with family more. I know he's home a bit more just doing Jays games but still
I gotta think that Matt Devlin will be calling a few games which I don't mind. He's solid enough.
Yep, so bringing in a lefty if they are batting 3, 6, 9 means that the lefty would have to face 2 righty's minimum.Sounds like:
1. Springer (RF)
2. Guerrero Jr. (1B)
3. Varsho (LF)
4. Bichette (SS)
5. Kirk (DH)
6. Chapman (3B)
7. Jansen (C)
8. Merrifield (2B)
9. Kiermaier (CF)
Then Belt DHing vs RHP and probably hitting 6 or 7.
Absolutely pumped! The D and pitching has me intrigued, plus the lineup with lefties in it.Is anyone else really excited about the season? I am pumped about the new look the Jays have but also the new rules. I am hoping the game is quicker and also more than the three standard outcomes, walk, homer, or a strikeout.
What I love about the lineup is it's so versatile. Could have Belt 3rd as well. It seems they really want to give guys days off such as Springer, Kirk, and Jansen. Varsho is really great at high-velocity FBs so maybe have him third and Belt third with pitchers who have elite breaking balls. If Varsho can take the next step with his bat it would be a big boost to an already great lineup.Sounds like:

Definitely. I like the additions. I know lots loved lourdes and teo but a change needed to be made. Just defense alone will be much improved. Only thing im concerned about is the rotation. But we will know soon enough i guess if berrios is back and if kikuchi has figured it outIs anyone else really excited about the season? That's my concern as well along with injuries. One thing to keep in mind, there are few teams in the league that have question marks about their rotation. Astros lost Verlander. Yankees have injury concerns already with Montas missing most if not all of the season.Definitely. I like the additions. I know lots loved lourdes and teo but a change needed to be made. What is the concern with Bassitt? He has been about as consistent as they come throughout his career.I feel very confident in Berrios bouncing back. A little more worried with Bassitt if I'm being honest, but having those guys as the 3/4 options provides great rotational upside to start the season. Most #5s are experimental anyway, and other top teams have similar high variance depth guys like Mitch White/Yosver Zulueta waiting in the wings. Not a lot of them have a Ryu expecting a return down the stretch though. Plus who knows, Tiedemann/Juenger/Robberse could end up supplementing that depth.
The only concern with Bassitt is he has historically pitched for teams in what are regarded as pitcher's ballparks (Oakland, Mets), and is moving to more of a bandbox here. What is the concern with Bassitt? He has been about as consistent as they come throughout his career.
If the pitching staff is healthy, I think it's good enough and deep enough that they can afford to give him lots of rope in low-leverage situations until he figures it out.I'm curious how long Mitch White's no options leash lasts if Thompson, Zulueta, Pop all out perform him in camp. Especially if the staff stays healthy.
