A's ownership gets their wish after intentionally poisoning the local fanbase for years now. Hope their attendance goes from miniscule to non-existent for the next few years.

There's no victims here.

The As has been trying for 20 years, at 7 different sites and across 2 different ownership groups to get a new stadium built in Oakland. The city is just as culpable as the team here.

wouldn't surprise me at all if manfred forces fisher to sell the second they get to vegas

just the last f*** you to oakland as the cherry on top

They can leave, but under no circumstances does Fisher get to take the A's history/records/identity with him as far as i'm concerned.

Go build your own identity you f***ing prick.

Oakland man, f***

Im sorry dude, I really want the A’s in Oakland.
This is a damn shame.
Yeah, it’s looking like it’s all but over.

Wish the city of Oakland could just pay the A’s the remainder of the money for the coliseum lease that expires after next season and just kick them to the curb right now.

Mantits can go to hell.

That’s a really ignorant narrative that keeps getting mentioned. The A’s haven’t actually tried since the Giants sued them to keep them from moving to San Jose. This was just a show to try and get as much out of Vegas as they could.

Curious will Athletic fans still support them like many have Raiders?

I couldn't imagine losing two teams to same city
f*** no.

I’m a free agent after next season. Line up, everyone.

The A's won 5 titles in Philadelphia and then they abandoned it for KC, then moved again to Oakland after like 13 years. This is not the same as an Original 6 team moving. This team has moved two other times.

They haven't been forced to do anything. They have chosen to relocate, just like they have two other times in their history, just like the Dodgers, Giants, Braves and Nationals.

The good thing is that they don't have to change their caps. The A is iconic and works no matter the city they play in. Should be interesting to see if they change the colors. I certainly like the green and gold but the original blue is also damn cool.
Please don’t change the colors. There’s a way too much blue.

This is all gross. Drop the news at 10pm the day they leave for a road trip and the Bay Area is focused on the Kings vs. Warriors Game 3 tonight so they don’t have to face angry fans. It's not quite packing up and leaving under the cover of night like the Baltimore Colts, but it feels as close to that as possible in today's world.

I don’t blame Oakland for holding its ground. I blame Fisher and Manfred and back to Selig too. And F*** the Giants for their role in the territorial rights crap that kept the A’s from being able to really try in SJ or Fremont. This was all on purpose and they basically Major League'd their way out of Oakland.

The A’s have been my second favorite team only to the Sharks my whole life. My dad grew up in Oakland and worked for the A’s before I was born. We used to take my grandmother before she passed. We’ve had three generations of A’s fans since the day they came to Oakland in the 60s. I was there for the 20th win in the streAk, the Jeter flip in the playoffs, clinching the division in 2012 and the Game 4 comeback against DET that season, and hundreds of games over 3+ decades. I feel actual grief.

Someone asked if A's fans will migrate to the Giants, and I can't see that being a case for most folks. I have an unhealthy little brother complex about the Giants as an A's fan, and I don't think that's uncommon.

I don’t know if they’re dead to me as of today or I can hang with them until they actually leave, but once they’re gone that’s it. My dad is holding onto that 5% chance this all falls apart. Nothing is done until there are shovels in the ground, but this is as close as you get before that happens.

I bought tickets to some games this year already, and I'll still go to see fellow fans, hang with Pops, and commit some misdemeanor fecal-related crimes outside Kaval's office if given the opportunity. But all of this is sad.

It does suck but it had to happen.

In a perfect world the A's remain in Oakland, the Chargers remain in San Diego and the Raiders are in LA with the Rams.

i wonder how the dodgers feel about the A's moving to vegas, considering they have tons of fans there

What will happen to the resident possum?

I'll take it. We have killer woods behind my apartment and no less than 20 trash cans filled to the brim since no one ever freaking gets them. Great weather too

i wonder how the dodgers feel about the A's moving to vegas, considering they have tons of fans there

I'm sure they'll be fine

Is there any way there is a last-ditch effort that saves the A's, or is it a foregone conclusion at this point this is going through? 2027 is a long ways away and would be a slow, painful death for the franchise and its fanbase.
Lease agreement in Oakland ends in 2024, they will play at the triple A stadium 2 years. Next season is the final season of the Oakland A's. Sad.
