Post-Game Talk: NYR @ WSH Game I: An Implosion Of Modest Proportions

We seriously, seriously need to learn one timers and it would be lovely to have someone with a booming shot. I'd gladly do a swap with Del Zaster and Subban.

And I'd love to swap Powe for Stamkos, that ain't gonna happen either

Do they intend on actually showing this mystery replay that showed the puck not in or are they going to just make this statement?

Stating facts about the refs is not complaining about them. It is a fact that the call on Asham was extremely soft. And also that Stralman was taken down before the second goal with no call. Not complaining about it. Just stating it as it is.

Every page is refs refs refs. You get a **** call against, it happens. You get in a poorly officiated game, it happens. It happens for and against. Good teams overcome that.

I thought so at first too, but they showed a good replay of it on NBCSN and all contact was body to body with the puck in the play. Wasn't a penalty.

loss in game 1 does not decide the series...tough to get the first goal and lose, but it happens...now concentrate on game 2 on Saturday! Rangers basically had some mental lapses that lead to the goals, easy to correct...I also think you will see at least staal and boyle Saturday, maybe even dorsett, I think clowe will be out a little longer. Hope Clowe gets back soon, he is needed!

Outside of the first period, the Rangers outplayed Washington. Except for a couple bad breaks and bounces, the game could have easily gone the other way.

Ref complaints - Bad call on Asham that was the third marginal call in a row that let Washington gain a lot of momentum. The no call that led to the third goal.

Why hasn't Jason Chimera eaten a stick yet?

If Holtby starts his Patrick Roy impersonations again, send Asham crashing into him. JUST RUN HIM!

This is why we won't win. The offensive structure isn't there. The players that can do it are. The strat isn't. No chemistry/structure except for Derek and Carl.

I love Hags. He has impeccable work ethic. But you have a problem if he's getting all the offensive chances. Not exactly very talented.

Careful of what you say...dpon't wanna be imffracted for hopes of injury etc...

But yeah.... man up players.. I hate blaming refs but they were sketchy tonight

How about a 45-year-old Chara? Might be slow like molasses but when he unloads his shot, it's either a SOG or a player grimacing in pain. A lot better than what we have with Mr. High and Wide.

Ha I think going so long without him has lead a lot of us to realize how much he's needed on our blue line.

Yep. The best (defensive) defensemen on the team are the guys who don't notice until they're gone. From all the Rangers games I've seen, I can't recall Staal ever making a glaring mistake in his zone...ever.

So we can play a backup? No thanks.

Teams that win game 1 win 68% of the time

#NYR General consensus in Rangers room? That four-min span in which NYR failed to convert on 5-on-3 then surrendered 2 goals was the game

Even THEY knew it was over after they gave up those 2 goals!

Was it? MSG didn't show anything other than the original one which clearly looked like a trip and a bunch of the beat writers were saying it was a bad no call. If not, then I guess the refs made a good non-call there but regardless it doesn't change the fact of the Asham penalty.

Also is there any use at all for our 4th line other than taking penalties? Honestly, we should just play with 3 lines. The 4th line only plays 4-5 minutes a game anyway so that could be dispersed to the other guys and only add like a minute or so each. Whether it's Gilroy, Asham, or anyone else they are incapable of scoring and just end up taking penalties.

Nice to know our divas get a bruised ego so easily.

All nonsense aside, the Rangers played a pretty good game. The first period started out weird with that too many men, and they played the rest of that period on their heels. The rest of the game the Rangers got some decent chances and played well. I think they will win on Saturday.
