Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

Here’s a quick photoshop I did of what JT would look like in a Rangers jersey

Love JT as a player but God he's an insufferable asshole. I'm kinda glad to he done with his drama.

its sad to see. Unfortunate. Was hoping the rumours weren't real. Part of the business. Move on. I'm actually glad we didn't get a return roster player.
it's 2025, not 2019. Frost/Farabee can be found for free every July 1st.
To me that trade is just Kuzemnko for Joel Farabee. Although thats a pretty good trade for the Flames. From Kuzemnko to Farabee.

most Canuck fans rather have Cythil, the 1st rounder and Mancini instead of Farabee. We have guys like Karlsson, Sutur, Bleuger, heck Lekkermaki is also coming up. Frost is a salary dump.

It's not fantastic, it's not nothing. Chytil is an interesting player if he can stay healthy. The 1st is good. Don't know much about this prospect.

The whole thing sucks, but better it's finally over & we can move forward.
-Young roster player
-Young rookie prospect
-First
-No retention
-Saga is finally over

The tangible pieces in the return may be a little lacklustre, but Vancouver opened a lot of cap space, and probably most importantly, it's finally over

I think Canucks fans are in hard cope mode with such a staggering loss.
I’ve seen more Alberta fans making comments like this than I’ve seen Canucks fans flipping out.

Guy had trade protection and controlled the move. I was hoping they’d be able to wait until the off season to trade so that the cap increase was in place and more teams acceptable to Miller could be in play. Making the move now suggests it wasn’t going to work out for the remainder of the year (even with the recent wins). Too bad. It’s absolutely no replacement for Miller, but there is some value in that return and the cap space. Here’s hoping for a playoff push and a Rangers tank so the 2026 1st is unprotected.

JT Miller’s turning 32 signed to 2030 with a cap hit of 8M, he’ll be 37 in the final year of his contract.

  1. Canucks didn’t retain salary, just freed up a lot of salary room, can use it to improve their roster however they like.
  2. Filip Cytill is an excellent middle 6 forward & only 25 years old.
  3. Canucks can resign all their players including Boeser and still have lots of salary space left.
  4. Mancini is a solid D prospect.
  5. Canucks traded a 1st to Tampa for JT & got a 1st back from the NYR, but the Canucks got to use Miller’s services from 2019-2025

Considering all this, it’s a win for the Canucks. This year the Rangers got better, but going forward the Canucks will be much better off because of this trade. Good trade for the Rangers if they win the Cup this year or next, but that’s a lot of pressure and the Rangers aren’t really doing very well this year so a bit of a weird move by Drury to go for it.

JT Miller will drop his gloves, score a goal, get an assist, drop the gloves, work his ass off, tell slackers to step it up, lay a hit . . . Rinse repeat

Pettersson does a Homer Simpson eye-balls going opposite of each other and fades into the bushes when asked a soft-ball question, is asked to compete harder etc . . . Rinse repeat

Who do you want on your team? Miller 100 out of 100 times

Could.also be the Gretzky tire-pump curse

Lost the playoff performer out of their two problem children.

Vancouver sucked before and they suck now.
We all know who the pouty haters are , who were going to say this regardless what the return was. And you were probably one of the ones saying what a disaster the Miller contract was when he signed it.

We can tell who is just being annoying and who is doing objective trade analysis.
