Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

Uh, the team has been shit with Miller. Literally. And yes, you can improve the team with 8mm and a top 20 first + the young 20 goal C you picked up. Also suspect Petey’s play picks up.

I’m not a fan of either team but this was fair value, not like they were winning Cups with Miller, the over reactions here are pretty funny.
If the $11m player can't play well because someone is a big meanie, then he's not gunna be leading a team anywhere.

The young C is somehow even softer than EP.

And no, there's literally no better use of $8m than Miller (besides the obvious collection of high end ELC players). Anything else you do with that money is a downgrade. Full stop

Alright, I’ll ask. What’s the story with Miller? Like Miller and EP or Miller and Canucks? I haven’t paid much attention but there was lots of smoke

Chtyil is a low level 2nd liner. Lafreniere is far better and would likely flourish if he got away from the idiots in NY.
first it was, Laf will flourish playing with Panarin, that isn't working out, so now it's Laf will flourish when he gets away from NY? riiiight.

why can't Chtyli flourish away from the "idiots" in NY as well?

1st round picks are always sweet I remember nucks trading that to Arizona for oel and garland and got guenther. I wonder how that trade worked out? 1st round picks are the dynamite of any trade it can cause a major kaboom for either team. Chytll is also a nice young player and .Wouldn't Surprise me he hits 50 plus points playing a solid 2 way game. Not bad for a dino whose close to 32.

Mancini looked very promising, Canucks fans. He looked like he belonged in the NHL. He didn't do anything wrong to be demoted to Hartford. Mancini should've been on the third pair when we traded Trouba, but then we traded for and extended Borgen, which blocked Mancini's development here. They also have EJ Emery in the pipeline and Fox and Schneider are still young.

But Mancini is an impressive young player. I think he'll be a top-4 guy in the NHL.

Do you think that they wouldve been a better team today if they had figured a way to co-exist and solve their locker room issues? That's the best team.

They made the trade they had to, but there's no way that management was excited about making this deal. Hence, they had to lose the trade for the greater good. Which still means they lost the trade.

We won't agree on the semantics I guess, so I'll leave it at that.
Yeah it's just semantics. Totally agree no one is feeling great about this--neither of the players nor the Canuck org are better than they would be if the two players could at least function professionally together.

Alright now that the Canucks are down a Miller and I'm up 2, I really don't hate this trade at all?

If the thinking is that the 1st can be flipped for a top 4 d man then does a 32 year old, 8 million dollar center get you better than a young potential 2c, top 4 d man, and bottom pairing RHD? Maybe? But I think once sticker shock leaves, this won't be so bad....

I don't know if anyone here keeps up with wrestling, but this move kind of reminds me of AEW (WWE's main rival) getting rid of CM Punk because he was an asshole. The problem is, CM Punk was and is the biggest star they ever had, but the owner of the company sided with a few guys in the locker room who hated him. Well, a big chunk of AEW's audience seemed to leave with him and the company is much less popular today.

In this instance, I think the Canucks will be a weaker team, led by softies like Elias Petterson the 1st, who will continue producing at a pathetic pace, and the team will cease to be a contender for the foreseeable future.

I may be wrong here, but Chytil sounds like a slightly higher scoring Podkolzin. Great defensive player who makes smart moves but can't score to save his life. Is that accurate?
Not all accurate about Chytil. He’s a dynamic skater and goal scoring center who has a checkered injury history. If he can stay healthy he’s a great 2C still with room to grow.

Don't worry guys, I trust the players who've played together for years over an invented narrative by the media. There is no rift, they said it themselves.
