Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

Reminder - Van cleared up cap and has the first as trade bait. I’m not sure they will be that much worse, and clearing the distraction is worth a fair amount.

Not sure this is the fleecing posters seem to think it is. Looks like about market value to me for a player with locker room issues.
Cleared up cap space for what? There's literally not a single thing yall can do with $8m that makes the team better than with Miller. That's why it's one of the stupidest trades in recent memory

As a Canucks fan, this is a terrible trade in my eyes.

Horrible return for a player that's been our best overall forward for the past 5 years.

Incredibly demoralizing.

I'd have preferred Pettersson to be dealt. The return would've been higher.
He better start performing. If not, we will run him out of town.

One makes $8m and brings it every playoff. The other makes $11m and can't play well because the other is too mean.

When the going gets tough, Miller brings it while EP GTFO's

Elias Petterson had more points in his first playoff run than JT Miller did in his 4 playoff years combined. He had a mediocre playoff run in 2024 but I guess one playoff run = bad and unwanted. Pretty sure Elias Petterson was also hurt in that year's playoffs but nah rah rah muh grit and JT Miller bettah!

Nice laughing emote, bud. Almost as funny as your Saros/Askarov take in the summer @JKG33

Canucks probably make the playoffs now if Demko stops being so bad, Miller and his inflated ego go back to being irrelevant and the Rangers in typical Rangers fashion, go and buy a big name they'll have to buy out in a couple years, all that for a guy they traded away not that long ago.
Getting rid of your best forward doesn't help your playoff chances

I’m not going to pretend to know the inner workings here for your locker room but from what was presented in the media miller was a bully and known locker room cancer.

They made a bet on Peterson which given his age was probably the right one. If as a GM you are going to fall on a sword he’s probably the one you fall on. I won’t make any guesses on if Pertey lives up to his contract now with his bully gone. The situation was too out of hand for a professional locker room and neither miller or Petey come out of this looking good. As an oilers fan I don’t really care if Vancouver gets better or worse here, just if I was a Vancouver fan I’d be more relieved than not tonight and the return would be immaterial to me because the trade was always going suck and they were always going to lose. Props for ripping the band aid off though.

What you call bullying, was him holding Petey accountable, with Petey turning into a whiney bitch and disappearing

This is the absolutely moronic thing to do because Quinn will walk right to NJ in 2027 if you run out EP

JT Miller will not solve the horrible team defence for the Rangers just enhance it. Vancouver didn't get much of a return but atleast removed the cancer that was growing in the locker room. Got to think at least 2 more moves coming for them.
Anyone thinking EP is going to suddenly become a 1C again is going to be sorely dissapointed. Vancouver needs to see if they can fleece Buffalo in a deal for him.

Finally! About time this trade happened. I think the value was pretty meh going back for Miller though.

@Canucks LB i offered you better from the Pens! :sarcasm:

@Three On Zero try not to crash being the Uber to and from the airport this time!

Ah yes, compare when Miller was a 3rd liner. Laughably dumb argument and you know it, but you're a known troll so I'll GTFO here

His first playoffs was during a pandemic with no fans, even NHLers were saying it isn't the same.

Rangers win the deal, but Canucks do okay IMO. Miller had a NMC, so it was either stay in Vancouver or go to NYR. That's what trade protection is for, and why he signed long term for $8M instead walking to UFA or getting moved as a rental.

Vancouver also saves $3.5M in cap, got some trade capital, and Mancini must be someone they think has some upside. NYR improve (unless Miller is legit a cancer, then who knows) and Canucks get immediately worse on paper, at least until they convert the 1st and spend that cap. And I guess if the fog lifts for Pettersson.
Mancini had a great camp. He's young and needs development time in the AHL but he could top out as a smooth skating #4 defensive dman.

Canucks fans:

Don't think you got nothing for Miller. Chytil has been one of the best players on the Rangers all season, I think with a healthy Chytil last year the team is a lot closer to Florida. He plays a strong north south game and creates chances up the ass. He's not an amazing point producer for the chances that he creates but he's a very big asset for any team. He's a second liner IMO as is, and if he improves his game could possibly be more. He's also a fan favorite for how hard he plays despite his concussion history. His big problem is his concussion history and just injury history in general. I'm hoping that's behind him.

Fair enough but i also heard rumours miller was affecting more than petey in the locker room.

Whatever it is I truly don’t care. I’m just saying I can live the return if something like this happened to my team. Is it embarrassing? Yes but it needed to be done. Rip the band aid off and move forward.
