Confirmed Trade: [NYR/VAN] JT Miller, Erik Brannstrom, Jackson Dorrington for Filip Chytil, Victor Mancini, 2025 1st round pick (top 13 protected)

What a gross trade. If I'm a Canucks fan I'd be livid right now, one of the best players in the leagues for a middling 1st and a shitty 3C?? All to keep overpaid bitchass EP?

And I wanted to see Miller get a chance at the cup, won't happen on the Rags. Gross all around
Age matters Miller is older and this year is a throwaway but that being said we traded him to another conference so we won't have to deal with him as much compared to if we sent him to the Avs or Dallas for example.

Rather they make the playoffs this year and then suck next year lol
That does y'all no good. You get a mid pick in a meh draft this year and nothing next year beyond a vague suggestion of schadenfreude. If NYR resumes their prior freefall, you get a probably much better pick in a much better draft.

they shouldn't be happy with the return either
It’s not about the return here for the fans or the team. It’s about healing a locker room. As funny as that sounds. They were in a bad way and made a step to solve that. If I were a Vancouver fan I wouldn’t be too upset with the return. The circumstances dictated they were losing any trade to begin with.

do you think there was a decent chance he'd do that in VAN this year? If not I'd say his potential performance increase with the rangers is irrelevant where it regards the value VAN gets from doing this. It would look better for NYR if he did that but IMO the primary reason for getting rid of him by VAN is already accomplished so they've already "won". NYR could technically "lose" if Miller proves problematic for them too (even if they'll most likely "win" as well).
No I don't think he was going to do that in Vancouver. Maybe if Petey was traded, but even still I worry about the other players being upset with whomever ended up being left between Petey/Miller.

However, I was responding to the poster that was calling Miller a 50pt player.

On your point, I see it like this:

VAN with Petey, Miller, and no locker room issues is better than VAN post-trade which is better than VAN pre-trade (due to locker room issues).

If you agree with the above, then VAN lost the trade.... but unfortunately they had to do it.

Chytil is a good get... rather have him over Lafreniere.. not a terrible deal at all. 1st round pick will be key.

*this is Lafreniere's 5th season and he's on pace for 49 points... and he makes close to $8 million a year.

Yeah so an expected bad return. As Rutherford told the whole media.

Miller is a loser though so I doubt this helps the rangers much. So many people saying he’s a “guy you win with” forgetting he’s been traded from multiple teams now and has never come close to winning anything. Being an asshole doesn’t make you a winner, it just makes you an asshole.

Pettersson will go back to god mode now. I think the Canucks improve a lot with this.

Except Chytil kind of sucks and that 32 year old is often your best forward.
If Fila can stay healthy, Canuck fans are gonna love him. He's great with puck possession, zone entries, can set them up, AND has a twisted wrister. He's been given Chris Kreider lately who has been an offensive black hole. If he's playing with Joshua and Garland, they are gonna do some great things together.

I mean the Canucks now losing their 2nd best player wouldn't need to worry about him in the west.. won't be doing shit for a while

Chytil is injury prone and one hit away from being done. I like him, however I am relieved that he is gone. One less thing to worry about.

Millers personal life made him even more grumpier than ever. His leave of absence earlier was just more than personal time off.

Something happened which I’m sure will be surfaced now that he’s gone
