Even if Soucy's role isn't significant, de Haan is so much better.

This was lighting a draft pick on fire. One of the most "move for the sake of a move" things we've ever done.

Is Vakinainen not the odd man out?

Maybe there will be some rotation with guys sitting here and there depending on how they perform with Soucy...

Nah they'll sit de Haan I think.

He got traded for Lindgren, he can't be seen that kindly.

We'll see.

My personal guess would be Vakinaien sitting first. He was really bad against Washington. DeHaan's been decent defensively.

Then we might see somewhat of a rotation, could see any of CDH, Vak, Soucy (depending on how good/bad he is) and even Zac Jones sitting a game here and there.

Fox needs someone to protect him while he creates offense. I don't mind it the guy will be I
Our Rempe on defense. After the shellacking Washington gave us Drury is probably sick to his stomach and I don't blame him
I’m not trying to be a dick but why do people talk about this sport like it’s a fight in an alley?

Whats our biggest weakness defensively?

Defending the rush. His analytics even this year show his biggest strength are denying entries

Bigger issue is that those rushes and odd mans happen to begin with. Lot of that is on the forwards. Forcing passes that aren't there, high risk plays, being soft and not chipping chasing at times etc.

Idk enough about him to complain but we could have just resigned Mikkola two years ago and saved a lot of moves.

That wasn't an option at the time. They were in a serious cap crunch and he was getting a big raise. He was underrated though.

I remember Blues fans saying he was garbage and he turned out to be extremely solid.

You're not being a dick brother, did you see the game last night? Did you see the guy who almost prematurely ended Panarin's career dump Zibanejad after he lightly hit Lindgren's glove with his stick? No response from the rangers led to the result last night.

I have very little patience for the alley talk with where the roster currently stands. This team is big and nasty. They can stand up to anybody in the league in that department.

We don't even need to sit here and argue over the validity as we've been prone to do. The team has plenty of it and more in the pipeline.

The defense has been much better of late. They actually seem to be fairly structurally sound. Last night's 3rd period was just running out of gas against a physical quality team. They gave up 2 goals in regulation.

Last 10 games 2.6 ga and that's with the stinker in Buf. Take that out and for those last 9 games, it's 2 ga per game.

The D is a work in progress. Removing Lindgren has been addition by subtraction. Fox is hurt. Adding the new faces has changed the dynamic of this defense. New partners and new faces tend to freshen things. This defense appears to be gelling.

Drury has done as good a job as he could do to this point. He can always flip some of these guus and recoup picks. Trying to make the playoffs as buyers while not selling the farm is a tough test. He's trying to find value and a legit contributor. Not easy.

The team is showing life.

People aren't happy here but then I saw this graph and now I'm on the ledge. I assume even Lindgren's didn't look this bad.

Post his graph from last year or the year before (I don’t know what it is) and then ask yourself if it’s reasonable to have such a wild swing from one year to the next.

You also have this model saying he’s terrible defensively but then you have Dom’s model giving him a +1 rating defensively (but bad offensively) so there isn’t even agreement between models directionally.

Give Drury, he can pivot. Remember a couple years ago when we were sitting guys to get like 10 grand to get under the and sign Kane.

Now he’s all about cheap term. I kind of like the options. Something big is afoot, likely in the offseason.

He was an interesting prospect back in the day with Minnesota, big guy LHD who is a decent skater. But his potential never materialized. He's better than de Haan but definitely not better than Jones imo. Jones ability to move the puck quick is huge, don't know why NYR hate him so much. Not one to gripe about 3rds, but that was going to be the top 3rd round pick.
