I'm not here to argue over the value of an asset as long as we agree that their wiped their asses with a draft pick.
They already have three of this guy.
This isn't the worst move the Rangers have ever made but it's certainly the most pointless one they've made since they traded Lee Stempniak for nobody, except that one was kinda funny.

In the last 3 months when has Drury made a move for specifically this season? It’s all about next season and beyond. Like I said Jones and CDH will be gone next season. We are still going to need bodies. All Drury did was spend $1 on a lottery ticket. Obviously there is the risk that he’s on the decline but f*** it. Burn a 3rd to see if this season is truly just a down year for him and we just got a quality 3rd pairing dman for minimal price.

As I alluded to before, I feel like Drury did the right thing with Lindgren, and then raised the bar to the lofty heights of "here's this guy who's below average."

This is not directed at you MH, but when we acquired CDH I'm pretty sure 99% of our posters flooded the board with posts about how de Haan was absolute flaming garbage. And now we bring in Connor Spicy and I'm reading a lot about how CDH is better. I don't know much about Spicy so I'm not really sure what to believe.

The logic dictates that they don't plan on both guys being on the bottom pairing, and I don't know how you could watch this team for any length of time and not think that's the most believable thing in the world.

Because there is no guarantee that CDH will be less. Also CDH may want to test the market. Would you rather have Soucy at his current cap hit or an overpaid CDH? Is CDH that much better compared to Soucy’s previous season? Factor in the pay raise for CDH and Soucy becomes the more desirable player.
They are both arguably bottom pairing Dmen. But some fans are just unhappy because they think he’ll get top pairing minutes because he’s big.

I warned up to Borgen because he filled an immediate hole. I was good with Vaakanainen because he filled an immediate hole. I was good with de Haan because he filled an immediate hole.
Now there's another one. We're collecting these guys. Soucy, CDH, Jones, Vaakanainen, Borgen, and honestly Schneider are probably all bottom pairing defensemen.
And right now, I just don't believe that they're collecting a fistful of bottom pair defensemen to compete for one spot on the bottom pair.
The logic dictates that some of these guys are getting crowbarred into the top 4 next year. I think that fear is understandable. Playing defensemen too much is a Rangers tradition like blue jerseys are a Rangers tradition.

It’s probably a better idea in general to have 4 guys who are competent and can fill roles on defense over trying to overpay for true 2nd pairing guys and then having shit on the 3rd parin

Well that’s what I mean. Both Jones and Vaak likely return maybe a 4th or 3rd each. There cheap young defensive depth. But the team may not be enamored with them
