talent-wise deangelo warrants a long term deal but its the off the ice/attitude issues that seem to be a problem which clearly rubbed quinn the wrong way at times. with trouba, fox and lundkvist do they want to deal with the headache if he doesn't mature and deal with those issues? is giving him that long term security the right thing?

I could see them signing him to a 1 year deal with the challenge to prove to them that he should be part of the long term plans...get thru next year without any issues and a long term deal will be waiting for you.

I'm a fan and I hope quinn go thru to him and he's around for a long time...but thats still a pretty good looking right side even without him...

I bet some of you who think it’s a good deal now with passage of time will be questioning Gorton for not committing to a longer deal. Not everyone but those who like making statements with a benefit of hindsight.
I've no problem saying now I saw a 4 or 5 year deal as optimal for buch and I'm disappointed we didnt get that done. We may have marnered ourselves on this one giving him studs to play with but not locking him up b4 letting him loose with them

Does anyone know if they tried? He may have been completely unwilling

If Buch breaks out for 30+ goals or 60+ points I think we would all take that in a heart beat regardless of how his next contract will look. We'll worry about that "problem" when we get there.

60 points? I think some here would be in anguish over that scenario - incessant complaining about how that would create a cap issue in 2022.

In all seriousness, Buchnevich is a solid gamble to hit that level of potential. It's all in relation to the value, so even though I'm not a 'fan' of his, I get it.

Curious to see if there's a scenario in which he returns with his introverted buddy 20.

Would love to see Buch stronger on the puck this year... I hope he's been in the gym all summer. Glad to have him back tho!
This was from last month, I don't think he has been in the gym much

I hope this is sarcasm

I work over 60 hours per week at a trading desk but still box for an hour 4x per week and work out during my lunch break every weekday with a trainer and either swim or (weather permitting) play tennis once each weekend. Surely he can find the time to do the same. Right now, based on my experience, it’s clear that he doesn’t. Call me a gym rat, if you like, but results don’t lie.

I like some of the things we saw from ADA, but I think he's getting pretty heavily overrated here. His first season that wasn't a trainwreck and we want to lock him up long term?

He should be and will be bridged, just like Buchnevich. These long term extensions for players coming off RFAs are primarily for guys with at least two full good seasons under their belts. Anything else is a big gamble with the goal of saving money 4-6 years from now.
His season was much, much better than "wasn't a trainwreck".

Its not like it's a bad thing to worry about shorting ourselves on the contract and appreciate his output if he gets to that level.

Its also funny that one guy is like "people will only complain about contract length in hindsight" but then I do it in a pretty fair way...in foresight... and now it's "aw gee guys worry about it when we get there".

Shit so no one can win, huh? Not that you're accountable for his opinion or anything. This is more of a "cant please everyone " thing

I’m quite fit with little extra fat on me but if I stand the wrong way for a picture it can make me look like I have a gut, or love handles, whatever. Point being, a single picture with his shirt on simply can’t be used by anyone to determine the fitness of another person. To do so is asinine

I'm the same way, in my building at work, I run up and down 8 flights about 50-60 times a week maybe more. I hate driving and live in Manhattan so I also walk 50+ miles per week. I def have A-cups and a slight gut, but most 32yr olds I know are in MUCH worse shape than I. Zero endurance/lazy jobs/etc. I'm gonna go ahead and leave PB alone here, I'm waiting for the product on the ice.
