Announcing it 5 minutes after Edmonton and Calgary is weird to me, but I guess it’s probably not related since neither one took on or shed that much salary.
He’ll be 32 when that contract expires. It’s a perfect deal in the perfect age range. This is a huge huge day for this org. This is like getting Mika on paper for 5 years 5.25 per. I wish we gave him the full 8 years and 6 mil per now looking back

A couple hundred thousand more a year than I would have preferred but whatever it's not a big deal. I'd rather overpay our best than overpay guys who shouldn't even be here.

I don't think you can get a clause on RFA years so it will be full NMC in the final 6 years of the contract. its a given with a contract this size

Just like Panarin, I’m fine slightly overpaying for elite talent. Be smart with your depth moves, and the cap shouldn’t be an issue.
This is amazing that we’ll have another young dman of a McDonagh caliber back in our lineup.
Gorton still has some moves to make to clear cap, but this summer has been absolutely incredible for us. This year is gonna be fun.
