McIlrath is the most exciting prospect we have in my opinion....potential to be a force, but no one knows yet, and I feel like we won't till he gets his cup of coffee.

McIlrath wants to make the NHL club.

I recall, 2 years ago when we had a preseason, that Dylan looked impressive even then. Obviously he never got a chance to impress this last shortened season.

Noureau is a beast. this kid is really a project but if he pans out watch out feared fighter and now becoming a player

Noreau and Mac would be like watching when kocur and probert hit the ice together in adirondack. Brings a smile to my face just thinking about it. Hanks as well....

Yep. He was 19 and he was very solid. I think he played ~15 minutes a night, seemed very sure of himself and was using his reach, skating ability and physicality to make his presence felt. I particularly remember his hit on Eric Boulton.

Holy s***, I'm so ********** excited for this season. Want to watch McIlrath and Noreau pair up for the scrimmage on friday

Am I on the Rangers board or is this a dream..guys that actually like guys who can beat people up..if McNasty, the French killer and Graves were to all make it to the Rangers in a few years we would have the most feared defense. What will likely happen is we trade all three for russian players who have all the skill and no desire

A lot of us like toughness, what bugs us is dramatization such as your post. I want anyone who is going to make the team better. While not sacrificing in any one department. Right now we are a bit soft, hopefully a kid like Mashinter can come up and add to that, also like Haley as well, and love McIlrath.

I like our draft, two highly skilled boom/bust guys and a big D with toughness.

I like the skill players more than the tough guys in most cases, but understand the need for both.

Aside from that we had six Europeans play for us this year only 4 on a regular basis and one is the best goalie in the league, so trading all three of those guys for Russians seems rather unlikely.

Listen, I like a blend of both skill and toughness, most of the guys on this board think I love goons and nothing else so, I run with it but it is just not true. This years team will be very soft, softer than last years team and the main reason for it is because we kept Richards and can not retain or obtain what we are missing.

A very good friend of mine knows the guy that is training Richards this off season..do you know Richards body fat right now...I guess 8%...when in fact it is 17%. If he is hell bent on a rebound why would he let himself go..guy cashed out and the only ******* not willing to come to gripes with it is Sather

I'm not gonna completely discount this because I don't know anything.

But remember AV met with Richards just before the Rangers made it official in deciding to keep him for another year.

I seriously, seriously doubt that AV would have wanted Richards on a team whose mindset is going to be transformed into "win now" if the latter was a tub-o'-lard.

That's fine and the justification is there obviously, I have seen Richards' social media posts since coming to NY and all I can think about is how it must be nice to spend a bunch of time in the Hamptons, go to Knicks games with the owners, become a wine connoisseur, and eat **** loads of lobster. That's why he needs to put up close to career numbers this season if I'm gonna buy that he's suddenly interested in hockey again, because he's seemed pretty disinterested if you ask me.

Point is, majority of us appreciate toughness some not as much as the others, and I don't think you just love them goons without putting thought into the fact teams need goals to win game. Obviously, it's tough to know for sure around here because there is so much hyperbole thrown around though. Glad I have a bit of perspective on your posts now.

17% body fat isn't letting himself go? Pretty average in fact. I bet most NHL guys are somewhere around 12-18%. 8% is about as low as the body can go while still being healthy. I doubt many NHLers could play at 8% without getting hurt quite a bit. I think he was caught with his pants down last season. Had no faith in there being a season and didnt put in the time during the offseason and never recovered. I think a fresh start with a new coach can be good for him. At this point we need him to be a 3c and I think he can give us 50 points from that position. Is it the 80-90 points we signed him for? No, but its better than nothing.

This study has the average body fat % of an NHL player to be at 9.2%. Pretty far away from 17%.

And this is a guy who you want to be on your team...as a professional making 7 millions dollars a year you keep yourself in top physical condition at all times...he has no excuse...every other player in the league experienced the same thing...

While it may be tempting to think that some of this weight increase has come from fat, like you see with some NFL linemen, this doesn't appear to be the case. Body fat percentage has remained stable since the early 1980's at around 10.5%, meaning that the majority of weight increase in hockey players has come from increased muscle.

You might want to do your homework before you make a statement like that.

The risk far exceeds the rewards of keeping this guy...terrible mistake by the Rangers...if he gets hurt we are screwed for 7 years...he is so not worth it and mind numbing to me that fans just wave it off and start discussing other topics...Sather should be hung for this.
