Does anybody think one of the reasons we traded Christian Thomas is that NYR plan on signing Tolchinsky. Can't have too many small players.
hopefully that is the reason although i love this trade...

My friend lives in Greenwich is friends with the Cam Atkinson, Wiley Sherman and John Hayden families and has been around Chris Kreider for the last 2 years. He has coach or played hockey for over 30 years and his son is a goalie in college. I have seen text from both Sherman's and Hayden' dad's from my friend congratulating them on their son's accomplishments.
We had a discussion today at work and I was mentioning how disappointed I was with the Rangers and he knows how passionate I am about them and he wanted to throw salt on my wounds and told me about Richards carrying the extra luggage...no need for him to lie or make it up.
So, unlike most of you...I don't come on here and make **** up.
is kristo going to show up?
Also, Tolchinsky is not 5'7" or 5'6". According to his OHL team, he is 5'9

I hope NYR sign him. Small player but phenomenal skill.

He's 5' 7 tops. Dude is small for a pro hockey player. Like extremely small. And thin. He's not 5'9.
And no, tolch and Thomas have no correlation. If we offer tolch a deal its cause we think he can play inspite of his midget size. His skills are undeniable. Hes 5'7 and maybe 160, together both of those are the reason he was not drafted.
Christian Thomas, although smallish, has a world class shot. I mean, lazer beam good. Other than that, he's meh. He skates well enough and gets after it but his finish is what sets him apart.
We did that deal because Danny kristo is a better overall prospect vs Thomas. Period. Kristo was the most dynamic player in the ncaas last season. Kid has real legit dangerous skills.
Montreal wasn't happy he stayed for 4 yrs at no dak.
“We still think Brady Skjei is a top-four defenseman,” Clark said. “We liked him in that Ryan McDonagh-John Moore mold of athleticism and skating.”
Brady Skjei's uncle owns a power skating school. He has been skating since he was 2. Clark made some comments about him a few days ago.

Stop coaching Pat and Andrew Gross were critiquing McIlrath's skating ability. McIlrath stayed out after the scrimmage for a 45 minute power skate with a few of the other players. Those 2 knuckleheads took it as a bad sign. Stick to finding out who will be the assistant coaches on twitter instead of evaluating players. McIlrath doesn't skate like McDonagh,Moore or Skjei. That is not his game.
Really hoping Tolch impresses. If he gets pushed around in our camp, we won't sign him (and for good reason). Really hoping he can overcome the size, man.
Yogan has the size and strength to go to the net and stay there. Basically I see him more as a 4th liner though who will chip in a few goals here and there--maybe kind of like Daniel Paille though maybe not as good a skater. In time he could move up to the third. Occasional fight--and have to work him into the pk rotation. That's his avenue to the NHL IMO. Don't know if he pk'd last year but if he didn't that's an area he'll need to get good at.
McIlrath just fills a need. Gives our defense an x factor. People don't always realize the psychological factor of having someone that big and mean with mobility on your D. After he's creamed a few people with hits or fights there will be a bit more watching who is on the ice by opposition forwards. They'll know when he is out there and have their heads up not wanting to be the next victim. Games can be won on such small edges.
Don't know if either are ready but if Hagelin and Callahan don't start the season at least some other forward is going to be taking their spots---whether it's a Yogan, Kristo, Miller, Lindberg, Haley.
New York Rangers @NYRangers 29s
Scrimmage half over...goals for @kjean9 and invitee Alex Gogolev so far...Steve Fogarty arrived lsst night and is taking part in scrimmage
to development camp? no Jim Cerny tweeted that he wont make it I'm pretty sure.
Does anyone know if Buchnevich and Tolchinsky have any prior relationship
Agree
People forget to realize there's a difference between being big and playing big as well.
Yes. The Rangers have a well established reputation now. We have players on the small side who play a big game. Now we need to find some bigger guys that can help create some space around our smaller players.

I really hope Yogan can put it together and stay healthy, I think he can be that 3rd line Dubinsky replacement this team needs.
Rangers have big players like Nash Pyatt and Boyle but they play smaller than their size... maybe Rangers can sign Marek Malik so they can have another big body that plays small.. i hate players with size that dont know how to use it or are too lazy too...imagine if Rick Nash had the mean streak of Milan Lucic Shane Doan or David Backes... maybe Rangers can talk Eric Daze out of retirement. size dont mean anything if you dont use it to your advanatage....
No where near as feisty, from what I've seen, but besides that, I think that's exactly what his upside is.
Yeah I agree, not as much chippy-ness.
But I also think he doesn't have the selfish streak in him like Dubi sometimes did when it comes to dangling and individual moves, which can be a good thing.
