That's what I said, meaning if we win, great, if not, we shot some of our wad w/nothing going forward to show for it.
That said and to be clear, Vatrano was the best of these deals. Worth WAY more than a 4th. Some of the depth moves were unnecessary indulgence but whatev. You make those deals when you also ditch Strome and guys like Brendan Smith a year ago, and because of THAT, you have a surplus for this, which is not the case.
Copp will be the most expensive but the best value added after Vatrano but to what avail if we cannot sign. And on top of that, Copp will make it more likely Trouba will stay and be less amenable to being moved.
Moving Jones for a pick, losing McKegg + Hunt will = Vatrano short term $, but that's about it

Probably been the best pickup of any trade deadline pick up.
Good job Rangers who appear to have the the penguins number ...playoffs should be no different
