Does anyone else worry that the team will overreact to one ugly incident in one ugly game? Players like Ben Wilson or going the way of the dodo bird, I hate that one game and us playing MAYBE 6 next year against him would dictate roster construction. And a guy like Colton Orr wouldn't have done shit. Would have beat up Wilson and so what? The guy's a sociopath that wouldn't deter him.

It sucks the people are conflating the Wilson thing and the need to be a team that can be hard to play against and one that can play well against structured teams like Boston and the Islanders. They are two separate issues and the former really isn't something that has any bearing on winning. Once again, Wilson has f***ed up players on the Bruins, Blues, and Pens multiple times each and he still had all his body parts intact to do what he did on Monday. The only player that ever successfully cheapshotted him back was Reaves and if the Caps faced the VGK in the SC finals this year, guaranteed Wilson would still be running people on the ice.

It’s hard not to when the office gets cleaned out the day after the Wilson thing with vague snd contradictory explanations about why

you did, but i would not lump everyone into your headspace just because you feel like it. Step off the ledge for a minute

Not on any ledge. Didn't give it a second thought until now.

Maybe you're in the same boat as him opinion-wise. Maybe you aren't. The vast majority aren't.

And so here we are.

both the bruins and isles are both hard to play against and well structured. That is what we need.

we are soft to play against and terribly structured.

one is a player issue and one is a coaching issue. We need changes at both.

our guys always look clueless on what the should be doing on the ice and how to space themselves, where to pass to etc. that is a coaching issue.

lack of checking, skating hard and girt is a palyer issue.

we juat need a new coach, and a couple of grit players. Not a massive roster overhaul. A second pairing LD, better 4th line and a top 2 center with grit.

and i honestly believe good coach could have gotten this team to thw playoffs bc we have so much skill. This coach while making players individually better, produced no improvement at the overall team level. Players played better individually, but not as a team. That is on the coach.

I'm all for getting players that can play and grind. But while I do buy that Dolan wasn't happy with the team's performance, I think the front office change happened when it did because of Wilson. And Sather always had a goon on his team. Frankly give me Dorsett, Boyle, and Moore 100 times out of 100 over a 4th line that has Tanner Glass on it. Those guys grinded and played fantastically well. I don't even want one goon on this team. If they round out the lineup and make it look a bit more like Boston's while keeping most of the skill, fine. If they got an get a guy that can't play I'll be pissed. Granted though guys don't exist as much anymore. But think about Howden and how he's probably not even the worst player in the NHL. He still exists.

This letter went out at the end of the 2018 season with 28 games remaining.

2019 was the first full year of our rebuild.

Last season was cut by Covid. 54 games. 56 games this season.

The organization asked us to be patient. Most of us have. Covid without a doubt hampered the teams development a bit.

This is complete horse shit. You ask us to be patient with the rebuild and then you sweep the carpet from under Gorts+JD. This is a team that was flirting with the playoffs despite being in the hardest division in the league.

Gong show. Slats and Dolan are buffoons.

James Dolan is unqualified to have an opinion on the state of a sea monkey bowl, let alone the make up and direction of a rebuilding hockey team. I don't care that he might have even stumbled into the right solution for the problems, I hate it that HE made the decision.

nope... if u are gonna burn it down at least get the real problem.

the coach with no system and no clue how to utilize his players.

this coach is a Gorton hire. tell me the thought process of bringing in a coach (who did not want to be here... read that again... did not...), with ZERO experience in the NHL (who's won nothing) to coach a rebuilding NHL team at that...

This is the brilliance of Gorton that so many are enamored with.

So by this logic, you must have some concern with Drury as the GM of the Rangers.

In a ground up rebuild, there's going to be a lot more to that thought process then when you have a team that is already on the rise, which is what the rangers were when Gorton became AGM

Totally. It's my home base.

I sit back with a nice a cocktail, maybe enjoy a dip in the pool, as all the same D-list posters make asses of themselves and give no thought as to why anyone outside the same two or three D-listers don't celebrate their obvious, oh so apparent genius.

Then I smile, have a good laugh, and think to myself, "Aww look at little Nikki trying to flex. Isn't that special. Good for it."
Wow, you really are uncharacteristically fired up. Cannot say I blame you. I have been pissed off as hell and it still hasn't subsided.

Just keep in mind that for every poster calling you ignorant, there are at the very least 20 people who very much appreciate and enjoy what you write. Including myself.

On the other hand, if the plan was to acquire Fox (it was known for years he didn't want to play for the Hurricanes), why trade Pionk at all? Keep the kid on lower end deals and when you hit a home run with the Fox trade, now he doesn't have to play top minutes, he can get 2PP QB time, and then you have a competition between DeAngelo and Pionk, you trade one of THOSE 2 for an asset that you need... Not for a guy that is basically Fox with no offense.
At the time of the Trouba trade, we had no idea Fox would be acquired, or excel as much as he has. ADA didn’t have his break out season. Pionk was meh. And Shatty had a terrible season. None of the players played the Role Trouba played either.

I get it. I hear it in the DMs. It's all good.

So does the AGM get some of the praise/blame or not?

Also the youngest team in the league.

You realize Drury had a big hand in that decision too, right?

my guess is you're being sarcastic... no one is really saying JG did "nothing"...

Faceless pointed alot of things he did earlier... and it's not as good as many believe.

Honestly I think it's pretty easy to tell if I am being sarcastic or not. This place is pretty emotional today and can't easily tell.
