Nah, his fans recognize he got wronged and think he’s the type of player we need right now. His haters however...they’re the real delusional ones. They can’t look past politics. Because anyone who thinks he should have been gone after the Georgiev situation is either a moron, or can’t look past his opinions.

You're right about delusional.

He's been burning bridges since he played as a kid. A young Dman who can't stay anywhere even though he can put up 50 points at the NHL level.

He is a stone-cold racist. Always in trouble. Gets tons of warnings and ignores them.

Funniest of all is you believe the reason he was banished was solely because of Georgiev.

But I'm delusional.

GM’s league wide will try to fleece the 44 yr old GM.

there goes Krav, Nils & Chytil and here comes Patrick Kane.

i’m going to be sick

I don't think Drury himself will get fleeced, he will surely get approached by every GM for their aging stars though (Malkin, Kopitar, Toews).

The issue is Dolan himself going over Drurys head and making a deal. Don't think for one second that isn't a possibility.

 - that would be awful

Right, Drury has been put in an incredibly difficult spot now. I can guarantee that he didn't want the job this way, no chance at all.

Dolan being off the leash Sather had him on changes everything, absolutely everything.

protect Laf, Kakko, Fox and Shesty. They have to remain. The rest of the kids might be are up the wind long term.

Drury turned down a few offers because it was clear he couldn't be autonomous. Same places Hextall refused. Drury has to have some level of confidence he can make his own decisions.

Dolan had a knee jerk reaction. Nothing can happen until playoffs. No one is making huge moves until expansion resolves itself. Hopefully things settle down at the garden.

So now we need a new GM in Hartford and a new Assistant GM, and potentially someone to assist with the "President" side of the coin, which is mainly the business end.

Who's available? Who does Drury have connections to?

Heard that JD and Gorts were quick to sign their names off of the letter they sent out. And you know nothing like that goes out without Dolan approving it.

Laf, KK or Shesty getting would be make me think twice about supporting this team... but if Fox somehow gets traded, I am done.

I don't care who the f*** he voted for!

I care that he's an asshole who can't help making comments that are so toxic that no team in the NHL wanted anything to do with him.

Is it really that f***ing hard to comprehend? Is it stubbornness? Stupidity at this point?

Honestly, on behalf of 90 percent of the board, please help us understand what the f*** is going through your mind when you post shit like this!

I think most of us know the poster probabaly has one motivation.

I don't care which person a player supports politically, but why do I need to know? Why does it have to be part of that player's identity.

I don't know who Kreider or Lafreniere supports and I don't care.

ADA has fukked up multiple times along similar lines and hasn't yet figured out that it's costing him millions of dollars. He's an idiot.

The ADA stuff reminds me of Billy Martin. I don't remember the exact details surrounding it, but there was some player in baseball who had some serious legal problems. A reporter asked Martin if he would consider having him on the Yankees. Martin said something like if Hitler could hit and field, he'd be in his lineup.

The next day, and I still feel the same. This COULD have major ramifications and signal a terrifying new era of "involved Dolan," but more than likely it's a perpetuation of the approach we saw under Gorton. Drury had been groomed by Gorton for a long time, I don't think he's going to come in and do a 180 suddenly. And if Dolan wanted that, I don't think Drury would have taken the job--he'd have just waited and taken pursued the next opportunity he could.

Anyway, all we can do is wait and see. I don't like the spectacle of all this right at the end of the season, but the moves themselves don't bother me in a vacuum. It could even end up being a big positive turning point; although I'm never optimistic about this team enough to talk myself into that.

This is where I am at, 2k2.

I joked with my friends about hoping that the Wilson/Panarin incident wouldn't push this team into making reactionary decisions that hurt us in the long run like it did when we drafted McIlrath after the Carcill0/Gaborik incident.

I can't help but shake that queasy feeling that this is where we're headed because James Dolan is an impatient, petulant child whose stupidity knows no bounds and he has the constant need to interfere in areas where he knows absolutely f***ing nothing. Firing Gorton/Davidson makes absolutely no sense if your fallback option is keeping/promoting Drury who was right next to Gorton making decisions about this rebuild.

I don't buy the underachieving bullshit either. They're 15th overall in the league in a season that's included the Tony situation, Mika being useless for the first 20 games because he had COVID right before the season start, Panarin missing time because a drunken Putin crony went off the rails, and long-term injuries to Chytil, Igor, and Trouba. If you want to argue about the Islanders shutouts, they kicked the absolute shit out of them in game 2, and then these past two games involved them missing 3 of their top players.

Besides us not even being projected to make the playoffs this season, no other team in our position would have been able to withstand all of those losses and still come out in playoff position. Please don't do some reactionary bullshit like trading the farm for Eichel just to appease that f***ing lunatic Dolan. This team has so much talent and is right on the precipice of turning the corner and being a competitive team for a very long time. Yes, firing Quinn will probably be the first step, but they really don't need to do that much more when it comes to tweaking the roster. The key core pieces are already in place.

have to keep them all. Com’on, the first two are lottery picks and both younger than Fox. That’s the core four imo.

Yea and I AGREED with you. I’m not a f***ing moron. I wanted him gone too. That was, until time passed and I realized how stupid it was that his career could be over because of this. The one thing I will say is that if he ever comes back (not saying he will, relax), I do want him to get therapy or something.

Edit: Also, Durant was revealed to be a huge homophobe, and NO ONE CARES lmao

@Machinehead I love you, but how do you explain that DISGUSTING double standard? Certainly if he was a 45 supporter, he would be out of the NBA.

There are NHL, NFL and MLB players who support 45 without it being an issue.

ADA being an idiot is the only issue.

Or Drury is like Sakic or Yzerman and fleeces others.

if the Rangers were like the Avs both J.D and Gordon would still be here. Sakic has no timeline. Urgency has no patience so it’s tough to fleece others. Especially, unlike baseball, there is a hard cap.

I'm totally with you on that and you know I'll be first in line if he does something dumb. It won't take long to find out. If this is going sour, the first domino will be a big one.

I imagined you had already put a lounge chair at the front of the line, just in case.

I'm not saying that he'd be identical. But Drury is an incredibly intelligent guy. I would be surprised if he was out there getting fleeced left and right, NYS.

I could be totally wrong, but that way I'm putting it together in my head is that we came into the games with the Islanders with a real chance at the playoffs if we won both, and we were a high school team in both games. That set Dolan off and JR and Gorton were probably chalking it up to "covid year" which is where Dolan lost patience.

We never like to hear about Dolan losing patience, understandably, but like you said, it doesn't necessarily signal a 180.

Not that I'm siding with Dolan or even trust Dolan, but I think it's valid that we should have looked better in those games, weird year or not.

I guess we'll see what the reaction actually is when Drury goes to work in the offseason.
