Its been reported that Rangers are trying to add impact players for playoff. Preferrable RW and C. A netprescence and distributor. On Finnish news there was speculations that Kakko would be the piece Rangers are offering. I just think Dallas would be the perfect tradingpartner.

Dallas get:

Kaapo Kakko 0.925M RFA 2022

NYR get:

Joe Pavelski 7M UFA 2022 - retained 50% by Dallas

Dallas get a cost-controlled project who is decent 2-way, with upside, to add to Robertson-Hintz. NYR get one of the best netprescences in the game. Pavelski is a PPG player still and with him, Rangers can roll 2 very good lines and try contend.

I’d do it if I’m Dallas and unless I’m sure I’m going to resign him I wouldn’t if I’m NYR

Strome is UFA this summer and Fox gets a 8M raise. Next year theres Lafreniere, Chytil and Miller as RFA.s. Someones gotta move to give space for theese guys. I`d think Rangers keep their D:s, C:s and 1st overall? So, that leaves Kappo.

What are you smoking
Since when is prospect selected 2nd overall the cost of a rental. Rangers have cap space this year we don’t need to pay for retention

Per Seravalli:

"
New York Rangers

Primary Objective: Top 6 right wing
Secondary Objective: Reliable checking line winger
Briefing: Here’s the imbalance on Broadway: Artemi Panarin and Chris Kreider on the left side, Alexis Lafreniere and Kaapo Kakko on the right side. Stanley Cup contender on the left; lottery balls on the right. Thankfully for GM Chris Drury, as he navigates his first trade deadline, his arsenal is the envy of the NHL. He has cap space, a full array of picks, and a bevy of prospects to deal. The primary target (by a long shot) is J.T. Miller, who has already played right wing in New York. Reilly Smith also played for Gerard Gallant and would be a fit with Vegas’ need to unload cap space. The Rangers have also talked about adding a responsible checking line winger (think Ryan Carpenter in Chicago) to help round out the lineup. But keep an eye on Miller, as the Rangers would like a reunion and they can afford to sign him to an extension, too.
Pieces potentially in play: 2022 1st Round Pick, Kaapo Kakko, Braden Schneider, Vitali Kravtsov, Alexandar Georgiev"

I feel pavelski would be a better match even than Miller/Smith. I`d guess by doing this trade Rangers could go far in the playoffs. Just my opinion.

Sure but
1. From your quote, rangers have cap space. Why are you asking us to pay for retention?
2. Kaapo plays in top 6 for us. Why would we swap out young cost controlled top 6 player for a single play off run of Pavelski? That makes no sense

This is awful. You aren't getting a 20 yr old 2nd overall for a rental.

As for your no cap space thing you think the Rangers are going to keep Nemeth over kappo?

Come on this is bad. Lock it up

Check again the cap after Fox`s extension kicks in and the year after you try resign Lafreniere, Miller and Chytil.
Pavelski is a top-notch 1st liner. Having seen the prices on 2-3rd liners theese last years, I suspect a 1st liner, good netprescence and playoff-contributor like him @50% fetches A LOT more.

Why did NYR give up Buchnevich for peanuts if they have cap space? They might have to dump Strome as well. This is absurd.

We have cap space this year. Next year, we have very little. If we had re-signed Buch, we would have had to traded him after 1 year anyway, or clear cap elsewhere.

Who is better - Kakko or Pavelski? Are you gonna try to make a run or just participate? If you just want to participate, it makes sense not to do the trade.

And you have less if you sign Kakko. Are you gonna trade Miler, Lafreniere or Chytil next year?

So your entire argument is the cap in 2 years when the Rangers have 3.5 mill falling off from just previous buyouts. Also ignoring all other trades and contract signings while you have no idea what the cap number is in that year.....sure sounds like a great reason to move a 20 year old 2nd overall making next to nothing cost controlled who will sign a small bridge deal because he hasn't done much in a position of need for the Rangers for a 1 year rental. Makes complete sense. I can see from the other posters your logic isn't working for them either.

Rangers window is just opening. They dont need to go all in as they arent just a Pavelski away from a cup contender.

Tell me, what is the correct price for a player of Pavelski`s caliber, at 50%, from a team that wants to contend? Do you expect a player of his pedigree to go for a pick or pick+prospect? After the prices beeing handed out for say Foligno etc. at deadlines, I`d bet Pavelski will fetch a ton. And even Kakko was a 2OA - he hasnt played like such.

Can you tell me what the cap number is going to be 2 years from now? Plus how much do you think Kappo is going to sign for. He has 14 points in 37 games i believe. Whats that worth.

Are you crazy? Kakko is 20 yrs old and Pavelski is like 40. Counteroffer with Trouba for Miro Heiskanen

After Fox`s extension, Kakko RFA and Strome UFA this summer, Rangers have Miller, Lafreniere and Chytil RFA:s next year. Doubt NYR want to trade thoose either and I dont expect Rangers getting a 100M cap from Bettman or that all their RFA:s are taking 2M extensions..a

Please tell me how Rangers will manage their cap in the future?

And if they have to do trades, then now would be the time. Now they have players on cheap contracts and could add 1-2 really good contributors at deadline to contend, but to get you have to give. Doubt teams give 1st liners and Top2 D:s for your "We offer a 2nd rounder + unknown prospect"

I can tell you its not a 20 year old second overall. I love when people are like well Kappo hasn't played well but I want to trade for him. By your logic Pavelski should return much much more then an underperforming player. Why would you want him?

If we are going to cherry pick trades. Buch just went for a 2nd and a 3rd or 4th line grinder. He is a PPG player much younger and just signed a nice contract for 4 years so Pavelski being much older and a rental....I dont know a 4th round pick? I am obviously kidding but I am sure you get the point.

Easy - for the future. He has potential. Surely would do the same trade for Lafreniere and add more, but I doubt Rags would part with him.
