Context matters. If that was all Kreider was doing at yesterday’s skate then it’s concerning. If that was a 5 minute strength and conditioning drill and he was otherwise unlimited, it’s fine.

Does de Haan have any value or is he at the point where he’d likely make it through waivers?

He probably should clear waivers, but I'm not sure that he would. Teams value old farts pretty highly. Maybe there's a world where we can flip him for a late round pick.

Trading Vesey and 2.25 in cap space (that we don't need to use this year anyway) for Parssinen, those draft picks, and the near certainty that we won't be re-signing Lindgren, is a massive win for us though. Even if de Haan has absolutely no value.

I haven't checked but I thought I saw someone say De Haan's numbers were OK for a 3rd pair sheltered guy, but currently doesn't look like they've called anyone up so with Fox out they'll still shift another player to RD and De Hann will be in?

Miller-Borgen
Jones-Schnieder
De Haan - Vaakanainen ?

Dunno actually what the pairings have been lately with injuries and things getting mixed around.

de Haan sucks but he's also played significant games for three of the league's best franchises over the past three seasons. I would not be at all surprised if another contender wanted him as a 6/7. I'm mean you're talking like a 6th or 7th in return, or a C prospect, but I don't think that's an unrealistic outcome.

I kinda doubt they'll flip de haan, suspect he's just some vet insurance for the rest of the year

Also don't think they're going full fire sale like some of you think.

I dunno. With Fox out for a minute and Lindgren gone (to remind that Mancini is also gone and Jones potentially following the suit), I could see that Drury asked for De Haan to be that 6/7 insurance for the Rangers.

We needed a draft pick, even if it doesn't hit. We needed something of asset to make a trade during the offseason or just a selection in the draft.

Don't care for De-Haan. It will be interesting to see if Jusso can find a role here, especially if more trades are made and we need bodies. Having another bigger body player who can move would be nice going into next season, but we'll see how much of an opportunity he gets.

Lindgren's body just couldn't keep up. I actually think he'll be better on another team where the fall back isn't giving him 19-21 mins a night.

We have nobody to shelter anybody.

I agree, I think it's most likely that he is kept, although if we were to lose the three games pre-TDL that may change things. I don't foresee a fire sale but I do think they'd move someone like Reilly Smith.

I was just commenting on what I think his value would be if we did trade him, since there was some discussion about him being waiver fodder. There's always some market for guys like him.

He's cheap playoff depth for a contender.

Instead of a magic bean super low pic or ECHL prospect, i'd love it if we scouted an off the radar enforcer type with potential to play meaningfull 4th line minutes, similar to poaching Colton Orr from Boston that one dealine for basically nothing.

De Hann + some highly skilled but low IQ AHL magic bean for a young AHL or CHL enforcer with potential. A move for 2/3y down the road.

We really don't need to do that. We have a bunch of giants in the system already, and both Rempe and Chmelar have got serious bite to their games, and look to have the odds in their favors to have NHL careers.

Having Colton Orrs on your roster nowadays just doesn't cut it. A guy needs to be able to play hockey too. Realistically, the only reason having Colton Orrs on the roster ever cut it was probably because every team in the league carried a face puncher who was a liability between the whistles.

Great trade. Literally any return for these guys would be a win.

We know what Lindgren is at this point, and it’s sad that the game has taken so much out of him, but he had to go.

I still like Vesey as a versatile forward, but he was not being used here. Best for both of us to move him.

As for the return, the draft picks are nice. I’m not expecting much of anything from de Haan. He seems pretty terrible. I have some hope for Parssinen. Maybe this is a player that our pro scouts like and think is underutilized. Time will tell. Even if he turns out to be a plug, the trade is still a win.
de Haan was/is supposedly good at moving the puck/blocking shots. So, regardless that he's 34 that's a bit better than what Lindy provided if he still has it. Gonna have to ask my cousin (a huge Avalanche fan) about what's up with him now as well as Parssinen.

I think age is the key with Juuso. Only 24, so we get younger and apparently our scouts/GM who should have some ties with Colorado KNOW what they're getting. I think that's a win as well, and as much as I like Jimmy, like many said, he was wasting away here but I have NO reason as to why. Anyone know what was up with that?
Getting conditional 2nd and 4th is icing imo on the cake. Trying to recoup picks, but wont replace the 1st we gave up. Maybe trading Kreider will get that back.
Drury still has work to do. I'm not giving up on this season. I'm a Mets fan, and miracles DO happen from time to time. The best regular season team rarely wins the cup.
Ask Boston, Rangers, Lightning fans etc. Just watch how Winnipeg and Washington DON'T win the Cup this year. I'd bet on it.

Okay Brady, so what's your take on it? Who won the trade? Lol.

I don't think Drury is going to literally firesale everyone at the TDL.

If they think there is still even a 20% chance of the playoffs, I think Drury would be happier having De Haan on the roster than a 6th round pick in the organization.

Just my hot take on that.
