In regard to the trade, well.....I'm no expert and "I TOO" appreciate everything that Lindy has provided. If we had more of the same "type players, that cared" we would be gold.
Place some of these "offensive players" on that those teams with Lundqvist and defenseman that KNEW how to defend, with a coach that controlled his team.....we'd prob have 2 cups ta'boot.

Wasn't expecting to wake up to a trade. Drury really doesn't seem to hesitate when he sees what he wants on the table.
Looms like a pretty good trade at first glance, nice to get a few picks and not be stuck with any contracts. Don't k ow anything about Parssinin so will be interesting to see how he goes.

Lindgren at under 18 mins a night, in a system where forwards defend probably still gives you a useful player, and guys like Vesey are always wanted by GMs. Hopefully both if them have a bit of success in Colorado.

It also hopefully means there's a pretty good market for Smith

Just not sure there's no fixing this team. We've lost players that seemed to care, but weren't put in a position to succeed. Lindy should have been on 3rd pair at some point. Chytil should have been "no less" than a 2C, Trouba should have been gone the moment after we signed him, KK should have been on 1st PP and especially Laffy the same.
Young kids NEED to feel appreciated and more importantly they NEED to build their self esteem and confidence. By no means am I saying that the "world" should be handed to them, but for crying out loud.........give them half a chance, and see where that leads you.
Burying them, doesn't do anyone good, especially us fans, that KNOW better, lmao.

I’d still like to more “leadership” guys moved out. But this is a big step forward. Rangers refuse to simply bench vets so this is the only way to get younger players into the lineup and taking charge. Which is clearly what’s needed now.

Which is why I'm terrified of Gabe coming on board with this coach.

He and Othmann will play fourth line minutes with no PP time and stagnate/regress.

anyone who doesn't believe that lindgren will have relative success playing a 3rd pairing/pk role on a good team like Col is fooling themselves.

he was asked to do too much here. and he always would be

He won’t.

He got skull f***ed anytime he was taken away from Fox. Limited role or whatever Lindgren is a liability.

Colorado is such a shit fit for him too. It’s like they’re trying to re create the Manson trade while ignoring the deficiencies of the player.

I mean better than giving him top 4 minutes but that doesn’t mean he’s going to be successful or even playable. Lindgren types always come with the highest rate of buyers remorse.

Even if Lindgren doesn't improve, he's still probably an improvement over De Haan in the third pair. Don't get me wrong, the trade is still awful from Colorado POV but I don't think Lindgren will sink their boat. He will probably be a serviceable 3rd pairing guy for Avs.

Well at least with Lindgren, despite all the analytical advances that have been made, it seems most trades are still reputation-based. And so GMs still see Lindgren as the tough as nails defensive defenseman who lays it all on the line every night and is a leader. They don't seem to care that in terms of his actual, tangible contribution, he's terrible.

It's the same rationale behind the Trouba trade. GMs look past the fact that he's cooked and focus on his reputation as a guy who can play huge minutes in all situations, change the game with his physicality, and serve as an effective leader on and off the ice. He's actually garbage but again, reputation.
This is most likely 100% accurate but I also can't help noticing that Lindgren started sucking at around the same time Housley started running the defense. I wonder if we see him improve when he is playing an appropriate number of minutes against appropriate competition within an actual defensive system.

sorry if already shared
"Just spoke to one of ... Juuso Parssinen’s former teammates from his time in Milwaukee, he said:
“He’s a horse down low with the puck — his lower body strength is crazy, you can’t take the puck from him. He’s got a nose for the net ... ”

IIRC Parssinen scored vs NYR when in Nashville Nov'23
