You’ll notice a specific trend in the bottom 6 guys Drury and his group are elevating and targeting. Edstrom, Rempe, Parrsonnen
Big fellas. Hard for the tiny d-men around the league everyone fawns over to defend. Roobreck and Chmelar are in the same mold. Rangers were also rumored to be interested in Frederic, Brazeau and McCarron.

There's still work to do in the top 6. I think Panarin needs to go, but Cuylle-JT-Zibanejad has the makings of a very solid 2 way top 6 line. Cuylle will get a ling term deal this summer unless he wants to play hardball.

I also think they should be opportunistic at this deadline for another defenseman who is under contract a few years. Oleksiak comes to mind, but they've also added some draft pick capital to aim higher than that. Realistically the only untouchables are the guys we already know. Drury is threading the needle well. The players on the ice underperforming forced this.

Not gonna lie, I'm a little saddened by this trade

While they were few and far between, there was nothing like a Timothy goal.

And how am I going to know that the games actually started without seeing Lindgren bleeding?

All this brawn & edge is great, but I'll repeat what I said earlier; this is a team that's lacking in skill. With Panarin seemingly phoning it in for the year along with the rest of his linemates, quickly we've become a one line team yet again.

Does Drury address that over the summer with trades or does he do something dumb & go after Rantanen? I really hope it's not the latter.

It’s a bit annoying that Trouba and Lindgren are no longer here because has they tried to push them out a year ago we may have won the whole f***ing thing.

This is most likely 100% accurate but I also can't help noticing that Lindgren started sucking at around the same time Housley started running the defense. I wonder if we see him improve when he is playing an appropriate number of minutes against appropriate competition within an actual defensive system.

Lindgren hasn’t taken tough assignments for years.

This didn’t start with Lavi. It was a thing under Gallant too. It’s been Miller-Trouba/Borgen.

His QoC is average AF.

I don’t know where/how Colorado plans to use him, but they aren’t going to have Fox to help prop him up. Lavi even experimented with it a bit last year and Lindgren got crushed every time.

That should have been the time they traded him but here we are.

I really like the way Drury is operating. He knows the team isn’t good enough and is making moves when they present themselves. It’s not a video game where you can change things overnight. This team is already vastly different than the one on opening night with 2 of the biggest anchors gone. Feels like we’re aiming for a retool more than a rebuild.
That’s really been the point coming out of last season’s run: Drury gave all indications that he knew issues that needed to be addressed and as expected he was able to address them (moving out part) by TDL. All hand wringing to the contrary have nothing but false projection on the part of those who doubted. Drury’s big remaining task now is to move Kreider and to find adequate replacement for 1LD - he already addressed roster replacement for Trouba (and Goodrow).

You’re not wrong. I think he intends to go hard for Eichel

Trade was made for the 2nd and 4th imo not for today.
Yeah that's exactly it. They wanted some draft picks and evidently they also had liked Parssinen for some time.

de Haan will be gone in the summer and the Rangers may even flip him again at the TDL for another pick or player. If Parssinen fails to impress, they could walk away from him, too. There's no obligation for us beyond this season to either player.

This is the same general framework as the Trouba and Kakko deals: send out a player or players they didn't want anymore for picks and a player that the team felt might be undervalued and that they've been scouting for a while who could potentially be a piece for the future.

Great trade for us. What is ever more great this signals that Drury is willing to sell off our assets and weaponize our cap space to acquire assets. We can still trade CK at 50% for hopefully a big haul.

A center to boot. Doesn't look like he takes a lot of draws but 55.8 FOW% on 52 FO is encouraging. Big body. Let's see if there is any Juice in this one.

Hoping Lindgren does great sheltered on the 3rd pairing behind Toews and Girard on the depth chart.

That's misplaced analogy. We took sturdy but broken oak chair and exchanged it a folding black steel chair. The boat is irrelevant to the exchange and we can still more comfortably.

DeHaan isn't a good dman, he's worse than Lindgren. We replaced the sturdy broken wooded chair with an old broken step stool...nobody is more comfortable on d with this move. I'm ok with the deal, it's just meh and in real time probably makes the team worse unless the 24 year old Finn figures it out quick, and in this organization I'm not so sure.

Trade was made for the 2nd and 4th imo not for today.

The 2nd was for retention.

Avs fans hating their lives right now. Feels good to be on this side of it for once.

Not what I'm seeing on the main boards. Lots of arrogance because a 2nd round pick is apparently nothing. And when I brought up some of our role players that are not first rounders they laughed as if getting a star was the only way the trade was a good one for us.
