When people were talking about Gauthier earlier in the year I thought they were talking about Gauthier in Toronto, has the nickname the goat.

And like I said in 2018, feel free to go become and Islanders fan whenever you want

Right, just because I dont immediately agree with every move this team makes (and you shouldn't either based on a questionable track record) I should become an Islanders fan? Wtf

Wasnt comparing the two, people further up the chain were saying Kravtsov was essentially a bust.

I never called Kravstov a bust, just that Dobson >> Kravstov on draft night and even more now.

Sorry, I forgot we are not allowed to view this teams moves with a subjective eye and blindly give them a check mark for everything they ever do

Well you’ve admitted they already don’t have your undying loyalty, and you seem quite unhappy a lot of the time and seem to think the grass is greener elsewhere

I'm just more desperate for a championship then you are. You might have been around for 1994 or are a Yankees or Giants fan.

I've seen nothing and am starting to get scared I might die that way so maybe that's why I am "having a meltdown" over here

Cannot wait for Gauthiers promotion once Hank gives up his roster spot in 1.4 years

Lol

Unfortunately every trade isnt going to be a home run, we seriously won the Mcdonagh for Gomez trade and probably didnt get enough for mcdonagh and miller, it happens you win some you lose some. In the end we got Lundqvist, Hendrickson, Hajek, Howden, a 4th round pick (for Namesticov), and the prime years out of mcdonagh, saved his cap hit for 7 years......for Scott Gomez.

Scott Wheelers thoughts in the Athletic about Gauthier
"Anytime you’re 6-foot-4, you can skate with power and speed off the rush, and you can overpower goalies with a hard shot, you’re probably going to work your way into an NHL role. He’s not going to surprise defenders with passes through their feet or a slick pass on the power play but Gauthier can get to the net to finish off plays or score from long range. Though he can be a little one-dimensional, he should thrive with a playmaking centre who can get him the puck and the Canes have no shortage of that player type on the way. I’m actually a little surprised he hasn’t been given more of an NHL look this season. He’s one of the better scorers in the AHL these days."
Wheeler's 2020 NHL prospect pool rankings: No. 3 Carolina...

I'm still predicting that Hank will accept a trade by the deadline, this can't be what he wants to do for the next year. Retain half, package with Kreider to Colorado for a haul.

I'm just going to go ahead and say it: I don't think Lundqvist will be blocking Gauthier, or any other young forwards.

Grand slam - out of the last 30 posts only 4 were sarcastic and you corrected all 4. Congrats

No reason not to have a little fun lollipop :)

The Canes have a fantastic scouting dept, the very fact that they selected this kid so high bodes well.

I like Gauthier and this trade. But with Gauthier its essential that you can provide a good environment for him. He isn't going to do everything by himself. A good example of this is Josh Andersson in Columbus. 27 goals last year and 1 goal this year (albeit having missed some time and probably played some games not being 100%). A team can only afford to carry a limited number of guys like him, the rest got to be able to skate and cover a lot of ice.

And in Carolina there wasn't quite room for him. Here in NY there certainly could be room next to Strome and Panarin. Would be surprised if that wasn't tried out from the get-go.

Lol sure. I wasn’t old enough to remember 1994, and across all of the entire sports landscape, I’m only a fan of the Rangers. Just because you freak out over everything doesn’t mean you want to see the Rangers win the cup more than I do

Hope he does yet he might be content watching until his contract runs out

Highest upside according to Gordie Clark, who also thought McIlrath and Andersson were good ideas so yeah I dont have unblinding trust in this management when it comes to prospects. Even worse they viewed Howden as the crown jewel of the McDonagh return.

When they actually draft a high end elite player of their own then they'll have my undying loyalty.

Yes, but let's ignore any positives. Like say, drafting the player you are getting worked up in knots about in the 3rd round.

You rarely lay down the law like this but every time you do, I'm going to say "YOU JUST GOT KAP'D" from here on out.
