I will say that the fear was probably that Winnipeg was going to ask for ADA, who the Rangers preferred to keep.

So this move was a no-brainer for Gorton.

There's some sort of time limit that has to be exceeded after a trade to be eligible for 8 years, I'm not sure of the specifics, but Karlsson had to wait until after the TDL to be eligible and Stone had to wait like 10 days or so after Vegas traded for him

Good trade for both teams. I say that as Trouba wasn’t long for Winnipeg, the cap will give Winnipeg a bit of trouble and they figured out a way to work around it, although the return is a hair lighter than I expected.

My only hesitation is that the last time I had the reaction, "I didn't even want him, but how can you say no at that price?!?" it was with Shattenkirk.
