Wings called up Filip Hronek out of the blue yesterday which made me think they are working on trading a defenseman.

They have Luke Witkowski who can play both positions (forward and defense) sitting in the press box, so calling up Hronek makes zero sense. Unless a trade is brewing... who knows.

A player in a contract year is not going to sit out and miss opportunities to collect points unless he's feeling deadly ill. So either he's been hurling all morning or there is a trade coming in the next day or two.

Unlikely anybody's trading for him this early until they figure out the market for the big fish.

Why can't they trade Nyquist now? Is there some rule that you have to wait until the deadline?
