Krebs is very talented and gung hi but actually makes so many dumb decisions that cause multiple turnovers and momentum loss he should sit and like Alex in clockwork , he should be dosed and watch these gaffes on a loop and play sporadically. apologies like your grit my friend

cozens and Quinn are figuring it out

Benson is a star McLeod could also be one great swap for mitts I really like byram

Byram is the worst of the three so far, Dahlin is the best, despite the mistakes. Byram had a lot of not good defensive plays, but he's a offensive D.

HDCF/HDCA:

Dahlin +16
Power - 11
Byram -15

Are these all situation numbers? The 5v5 ones i've seen are different.

100% and if I'm being honest, it's the the type of manipulation we've been lacking from our PP QB and one of the biggest reasons I've been critical of Ras this year.
Agree. I have felt all year he has not been aggressive enough offensively... especially on the PP.

And yet he is almost PPG this year... imagine if he ups his aggressiveness
Ehh.. it wasn't that big of a change. You put your PP QB and best passer on the wing instead of the point. Dahlin also has the best shot of the three umbrella players, so there was that.

But, they still ran an umbrella with a net front. Aside from the trading places between Dahlin and Peterka, there wasn't a ton of movement. It wasn't like facing Edmonton, where McDavid gets in on the right half wall and drives to the center (bumper area). The bumper goes net front, and the net-side (Draisaitl) gets wider. That's really dynamic.

I think the Sabres could do so much more on the power play than just umbrella and find the open wing to shoot. Thompson has an elite shot on the left half wall. The Sabres should go watch the Caps power player from 2017-2020 and do something like that. Everything was run off the right side between Backstrom, Oshie, Kuznetsov, and Carlson. That's what I'd do.

Honestly, I have no idea, I just saw this today on another site and I don't even really understand what it is. But how did I understand it for the entire season, and not for today's game. Maybe this is outdated data, I don't know. I don't understand much about this except for cards like Jfresh.

JFresh cards use WAR which is considerably more situational than looking at the raw possession data. He also uses 3 year rolling averages which can sometimes be downright deceptive; and often times the publicly available cards don't use the same 3 years which is even worse.

Money puck has high danger shots for and against / 60, which is pretty useful, but even a stat like that you need to look at deployment to get a full picture. That data can be parsed by on-ice situation (5v5, PP, PK), which certainly helps.

Okay, yesterday I found this site, is it close to the truth or is it also deceptive?

Two things from yesterday - I still think that was Cozens best game and best shift in a long, long while. Hope that he has the confidence seeping into his game now to build on it.

And the other is when Tuch tries the Mersch play back-post and breaks his stick, he hauls ass to change for Cozens who becomes the eventual screen. That's the sort of small detail play where the effort is to get the next guy on the ice and get tired legs off, even with them buzzing the Blues' zone, that I see percolating around them.

Ruff said yesterday or the day before that he likes the way Cozens is playing and he's improving. Dylan said the same thing, that he feels like he's finding his game and getting back into shape. But Quinn? He's got one goal and he's not good, something has to be done.

So I wasn't seeing things.

Yeah, he's laboring after the Zucker penalty, as Greenway is heading back to the bench. I went back and re-watched parts that I only had half an eye on last night and that was certainly one. Good find, appreciate it.

I think Quinn is still dragging the line down while Benson and Cozens have been doing most of the dirty work the past few games.

Would love to see Kulich there, but man, getting Quinn right is a must. Unless he's completely lost his game, we need to find a way to get him back on track because he's shown such enticing potential.

We're not in a developmental season, that's the problem. No one is saying anything about Quinn, what's wrong with him and why he looks so terrible. We need a player on that line who will produce, not score one goal in 16 games and skate around like a drunken sailor.

agree but I don't think ruff changes even in third against lower tier teams Quinn is a key scoring element to our success . Ruff seems correct as he becomes less millstone every shift it seems He needs to be believed in

W Benson unflappable w his confidence and detail he has helped everyone he's played w

I'm not completely sure, it doesn't explain the methodology for the ratings. The xG data appears to be the pubicly available information on shot quality generated while the player is on the ice, ditto QoT/QoC.

The JFresh cards themselves aren't deceptive; what can be deceptive is a 3 year rolling average for a player's performance. If you use a card like that for a very young player it tends to dramatically understate their impact.

It thinks Jokiharju is Buffalo's 2nd best defenseman, so you might not want to use it much. (By a smidge, Dahlin is best by a mile)

But JFresh has a line on the right side of his card that shows how the player is defensively in each season.

I wasn't arguing with Jokiharju's metrics and analytics, they are decent, I was just talking about chemistry. I also don't really understand why he ended up in Ruff's doghouse. Bryson is not physical either. I wonder if Byram's metrics have improved or not since he started playing with Dahlin. Maybe that's the key factor.

Bryam-Power have worse possession stats than Bryam-Dahlin / Power-Bryson by a pretty good margin. On the other hand Bryam is the only partner Power has been positive with all season. Gilbert-Clifton have awful stats, but have been 1-1 in actual goals.
