hmmm. maybe I should have added more instructions for you ;)

Consider capspace, whether the team would want to trade X for Nylander...

Then come back with a response.
I would play this game....but we don't know what Nylander's cap space is....

I come back to Pesce. What do you come up with out of curiosity?

Okay, then in your world Nylander sits out - he now has even less value because he takes a year off from NHL paced hockey and now why does he consider signing next year if they let him sit out? Now you just have a wasted asset sitting there.

I think they absolutely need to sign him or trade him. You have a rare year where Matthews and Marner who are worth near double digits are on ELCs....you take advantage of that.

If Nylander sits it's not like his cap hit goes with him. The Leafs can then use that cap space on a rental if need be. And whether Nylander likes it or not the Leafs hold his rights until UFA. In this scenario if he sits a year and doesn't want to sign next year at what would most likely be an even lower AAV then he faces the very real consequence of losing another NHL season of play. None of this benefits Nylander in the slightest.

How about Dumba for Nylander+?

Dumba is that top pairing RHD that Toronto covets and the Wild need to inject some youth and potential star power into the forward group.

thanks!

Nah. I guess if the + was substantial enough we'd have to consider it, but realistically it wouldn't happen. I don't think Fenton's eager to pay Nylander what he's looking for either.

Phil Kessel got a long ransom from a lottery team give me 2 1st and 2nd and willly is all yours
Hamilton they wanted gone for whatever reason also there was locker room issues and has since been moved again. Also wouldn’t sing with Boston
Turris was severely more unproven with his early career looking bustish
Hamonic is not on Nylanders level

If you are going to trade Willy for picks and prospects, you do it in the summer after this years run unless he can be swapped in a long term RHD solution (very doubtful). A very real possibility IMO.

Don't they have to give Matthew and Marner huge raises next year and sign a d-man or two? I'd say the reason to do something with Nylander is that this year they could have all of these guys together and take a real shot at a cup.

I'm sure this has crossed William's mind. There is only a certain amount of pie to go around. And with Matthews and Marner due for big increases, this puts him in no man's land.

The +'s would be pretty substantial. Doubt there is any good combination that they would take for Dumba unless a boatload of picks and prospects on top of Nylander would do.

I agree Dumba is worth more than Nylander which is why I said Dumba "+".

The + would have to be another Nylander . Dumba is on pace for like 30 goals 60 + points. He's a top pairing young RHD. Nylander is an unsigned winger.

Gord Miller said today on leafs lunch that the Wild have had talks with Nylanders agent, and are just as far apart as the leafs.

Willy is in a position to lose a tonne of money if he ends up sitting a year. No way the KHL pays him anywhere close to what he gets here.

Still trying to figure out Babcock's statements. Considering how leak proof the Leafs mgmt has been, it just seems odd that Babs continues to speak out loud. Sounds promising. But I am really beginning to think his statements are squarely directed at Dubas. OK quite the non-sense. Get it done and get him back here playing. I think its far from a done deal at this point. If 6.9 is the number over 6 or more years. I do that all day long. With a 6.5 cap hit.

Sorry, I don't engage in these types of games. It never ends up well especially on these boards.
lol Are you ok? Its an internet forum. Just speak your mind. As long as it makes sense, why not?

Again if you reply with Brent burns, clearly you deserve to be flamed but if you make sense, speak up.

I would agree but I think for teams to trade for Nylander is has to be a sign and trade so teams know what the cap hit for Nylander is. The Wild need to do something with their "core" to go on a deep playoff run and also to rebuild somewhat since our "core" is getting pretty old. A trade like this helps in all those areas and you can't get something good without giving up something good. Just the way I see it.

If you've been on here long enough, you know that there's a level of toxicity that comes with people disagreeing with you. If you haven't, start a thread and test it for yourself.
