92/8 = 11.5My question is always, what would other teams have offered him? Impossible to know, but if he stayed on pace and hit the FA market on July 1, what would he have been offered?
Obviously 7 year max. I have a feeling at least a team or two would have offered the same or more. I think it is too much, but, it's nice to have nice players to continue to cheer for.
People like to forget Tavares was offered 12 mil / season and took (ONLY!) 11 to be a Leaf. Maybe in the end Willy took a cut too.
Is there any other alternative?I ask myself if I’d rather have one Willie and one Holmberg or 2x Bertuzzi’s, and it’s the former every day for the next 8 years.
Is there any other alternative?
What about 1 Nylander or 1 top-pair defensemen?
Cause lots of good GM's can get a top pair defensemen for a hell of a lot less than 11.5.
And who would this avaliable top D man be that will sign in TorontoIs there any other alternative?

How did he do that?Max money, max term, max signing bonus, NMC clause and his dad strong armed the team. f*** this contract, this team culture, this is bent over completely and anyone who rationalizes is whack.
DISGUSTING.

When Tavares' contract comes off the books our depth will be just fine
Were the chicken littles right when they had the same reaction to Marner's last deal 4 years ago? It's an okay deal. Certainly not as bad as the chicken littles are going to make it out to be.
Shows $$$ trump winning in which case you will never win with them. Proof is in the pudding. The core 4 simply won't give the team any discount.
As much as I like Willy's performance in the past few seasons, his production will drop in the upcoming years for sure.
92/8 = 11.5
92/7= 13.14
No team is giving Willy 13.14 over 7 and full NMC
Don't be obtuse, Paul. How did he do that?
A that one delicate wild card factor that’s keeping everyone on their best behaviour at the moment, is former NHLer, and Nylander’s father, Michael. How did he do that?
Yeah really, like who were we bidding against here? He wasn't getting over 11.5 on the open marke
maybe 11.5 on 7 yr but not getting full NTC and max bonuses.Yeah really, like who were we bidding against here? He wasn't getting over 11.5 on the open market.
I'm not sure that's a good thing given he'll be starting the deal at 28Well at least he signed for 8 years. AAV still sucks.
